I have to agree........ I too have been on heavy narcotics for decades,

they just don't affect me like others. Chronic pain isn't fun to live

with, but the meds tend to ease the pain enough for me to live a sorta

normal life.

Actually, they don't, and it's not illegal to drive with them in your

system if you are not impaired. Not in the US anyway. I've been on them for

years, as I said, and you get used to them.

Don't kid yourself, why do the police stop and test people for drugs,

whether you use them legally or illegally they are still in your system.

I'[ve been on heavy narcotics for a couple years now, so they don't affect

me as they would most others.

Yep. I do know that any time I change meds though, to be wary and my

pattern has been to start out only taking one pill, not the 4/day prescribed,

and at bedtime, until I get used to them.

I'm still trying to contemplate life wihtout being able to jump..well okay,

not JUMP jump..in the car any time I want. I live in the middle of no

where, and whiel I have friends willing to shop for me, and give me rides..I

hate imposing on people and I'm used to doing what I want, when I

want...going to have to ge t over that I guess!

I do hope that three solid months of PT pre-op will help me rebound faster

post op...instead of just making more muscle for the surgeon to get

through.
