Guest guest
Hi group, I found this article on pain, neuropathic pain, which can come about from arthritis when it gets bad enough. Unfortunately, I can verify that personally. I thought it was really interesting that the use of two drugs could help you get more results than just using lots of morphine. What really bothers me though is the last line of the article. It’s almost like saying, regardless of what we want to do for our patients or what we know is best, it won’t work because doctors are just too afraid to write the prescriptions for narcotics. To me that’s a sad state of affairs for our government. What I find so ironic is the same government who is so pro-life regardless of the circumstances, is making it difficult for doctors to help patients find a normal quality of life. I don’t see the reason behind this unless suffering is considered the higher goal. I guess I’m not into the higher goal then, because I have done enough suffering for one lifetime. I wish this article had mentioned check out pain management, since neuropathic pain is one of the most painful conditions a lot of people live with, if you can call it living. Well I’m off the soapbox for the day. Just thought I would pass this along incase anyone needs some help with neuropathic pain. I hope you never do. Guest guest
---Hi Fran, What article is it you were writing about? That sounds interesting to me about taking less of one med combined with another for pain. Can you let me know? Thanks, Susie In , " Fran Mishler " <fran@m...> wrote: > > > > > Hi group, I found this article on pain, neuropathic pain, which can come > about from arthritis when it gets bad enough. Guest guest
The March 7 issue of Time Magazine has good articles on pain. Way too long to post in entirety so if you want to read it go to 'Healing the Hurt' at http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2057269,00.html Yes, it mentions neuropathic pain and much more. It is about 'Understanding Pain' which was on the cover of the magazine. http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20110307,00.html It mentions the spinal cord stimulator which we've discussed here, not wanting to be on drugs, alternatives, and much more.
