respect to Occupational Safety & Health programmes related to a

pharmaceutical industry.

Dear Muralidhara

Management programmes can be created for 2 reasons.

1.Reduce the severity of risk.

Here you have to identify the hazards which present in each activity and

quantify the risk. After quantification prioritize based on the risk rating

and identify significant hazards and risks then Implement management

programmes to reduce the severity of risk.

For quantification / rating you can use FMEA model (or) any other model

appropriate to your organization. Normally this is done by multiplying

severity and likelihood of hazard. Legal requirements forms the basis for

quantification.

2.Improve the performance (continuous improvement)

You can always improve your performance by continuously improving the

indices of EHS

1.Going beyond legal requirements setting your own company standards.

2.Conserving scarce resources etc.,

The following are some of measurable objectives which you can set for your

organization:

1.Reduction in Frequency rate of accidents

2.Reduction in Severity rate of accidents

3.Reduction in Near miss cases

4.Reduction in Illness (data recorded in medical / occupational health

center can be used)

5.% of points closed vs. identified in audit

6.Employee perception on safety (how it is improved)

7.Number of improvements carried out in EHS

8.Zero non compliances with regard to legal requirements.

all the above objectives can be achieved thro appropriate management

programmes.

Management programme in simple is activity or task we carry out to reduce

the risk (or) improve the performance. It may be only one task or sequence

of tasks.

In your case you can have MPs for:

1.Ventilation improvement

2.Illumination improvement

3.Spill or leak of hazardous material

4.Fire prevention

5.Material handling improvements etc.,

Good Morning,

We need these MP's W R T , ISO -OSHA's 18001 norms , which are measurable

both in quantitative and qualitative aspects.

Incidents statics or enhancing training hours are not being accepted as

measurable.

Kindly help me in furnishing other aspects of measurable nature which

contributes for growth of the company.

Kindly do the needful at the earliest.
