Guest guest
This is wonderful NEWS??? (see question below) The CDC (Center for Diease Control) FDA, US Public Health Service, ect. ALL must be wrong. Here they up and thought that DMSA would chelate mercury lead cadimum arsenic, ect. DETOX-MAX should contact these Federal agencies with all due haste to set them straight that DMSA does not do these things. I read about DETOX-MAX, you might be better off with snake oil at a dollar a bottle. I would like to thank everyone who has responded to my initial e-mail. I did some searching on the boards and files. I understand that everyone is using DMSA/ALA. But I just spoke to the company that makes DETOX-MAX (company is Bioimmune and phone is 1-888-663-8844 ask for ) This product has been on the market for a year and they told me that DMSA is only good for chelating mercury. The detox-max will chelate all heavy metals like lead, mercury, nickel, etc and also toxic chemicals. It will not cause a mineral imbalance or your gut flora. Any input on this is greatly appreciated...again would like to know if anyone has tried it. Thanks Again -Jan --- End forwarded message ---

I understand that > everyone is using DMSA/ALA. Who is " everyone " ? I am not using DMSA/ALA. I am using only ALA. My child no longer qualifies as autistic. I pay $12 per bottle of ALA at my health food store, and it lasts me about 7-8 rounds for 4 children, which equates to 2-3 months. How much does this product cost? But I just spoke to the company that > makes DETOX-MAX (company is Bioimmune and phone is 1-888-663-8844 > ask for ) > This product has been on the market for a year and they told me that > DMSA is only good for chelating mercury. Actually, DMSA is used primarily for chelating lead, but it also works on other things. The *federal govt* even uses it for people who test high for lead. So anyone who told you DMSA only chelates mercury is not reading even the govt sites. I would be suspicious of other claims made by this person. The detox-max will chelate > all heavy metals like lead, mercury, nickel, etc and also toxic > chemicals. What is the active ingredient/s? Be sure you know what it is, before agreeing to use it. If it is ALA, and most of these " alternative chelators " are based on ALA, why not just buy ALA [and any other herbal supplements] at your local health food store and save money? > It will not cause a mineral imbalance or your gut flora. Neither does my protocol. > Any input on this is greatly appreciated...again > would like to know if anyone has tried it. Thanks Again I have not tried this, but if you have a site or an ingredient list or other information, other people can give you additional comments on what you need to consider before using this with your child. It may be a useful product, I don't know, but until I know more about it, I cannot give more than just general comments. Dana
Guest guest
That is untrue. DMSA chelates a lot of other things. It was originally used for lead poisoning in children. I would distrust reps. who don't know correct information! Barb [ ] Thank You >I would like to thank everyone who ha responded to my initial e-mail. >I did some searching on the boards and files. Guest guest
Hi Jan-- it is good that you called the company, but keep in mind, they have a product to " sell " you. They have a financial interest in it. There was recently a bad case on this board of someone who had used NDF with their son and he regressed on it. She had checked it out, too, but it still did some bad things to her son. I don't know if he has recovered yet (lecopeland? how's he doing?). Anyway, my point is, the info you got is worth considering, but also consider that if it has only been out for a year-- they probably have not chelated many KIDS. Kids are different than adults. I would not risk such a relatively new product. Stay on this board a while, read the love letters files, etc., and see the good results that people get with DMSA/ALA or just ALA. They are able to chelate out multiple metals-- that person told you some incorrect information about DMSA. I think looking at safety/long history of use are very important. Guest guest
Lynette, I'm so glad this group has been a good support system for you- they were there for me as well when I was crying and upset at the start of our journey. It will get easier as you get on with it. Your perspective will change from feeling a mountain of concern, to feeling blessed that this is a small, treatable problem in the grand scheme of life, compared to others that face much bigger hurdles everyday. Good luck to you and please vent away anytime, we can all relate! 'mom

Guest guest
Hi Sue, I may have missed an earlier post from you, but I just wanted to welcome you to the group! I can remember when I first joined the group, it was so helpful to see photos of other babies with plagio; I was so grateful that other parents were willing to share a photo record of what helmets and bands looked like, and how rounding progress occurred. It made the whole situation seem a lot less scary and intimidating! Would you let us know how your specialists appt. goes? There is a link to a list of " Questions for the Doctor " in the links/helmets and bands folder that may be of help, if you haven't been to the link already. Please let us know if you have any concerns or need any other information! Guest guest
Thank you so much. You didn't miss me - that was my first post! I am going to ask our ped for a referral (I have to call back at 11:45) but is there any chance that you have the name of anyone highly recommended in the Buffalo, NY area? I am learning so much from this site already. It sounds as though if your dc has a mild form it may just be up to the parents to decide what to do? I will definitely let you all know what I am told by the specialist. Also, if there is anything that I can do to help awarenenss in my area, please let me know. I wish I would've been informed of this prior to my baby's birth. He is my first and I had little expereince with infants. Thanks again. Guest guest
Jtaylor, I'm glad we helped you. Having had cancer was bad enough but then to have to deal with being sick from implants for 12 years makes me want to answer anyone's questions about implants. Your welcome to stay as well. Blessings, Penni thank you Just wanted all of you to know that I canceled my saline implant surgery in part because of what I've learned on this group. I apologize for intruding when I haven't actually had problems with implants yet. I will cancel my membership after I write this. I found your group almost by accident (I say almost because I know nothing happens by accident, really). I couldn't help but find out what real women who have had implant problems were saying. My doctor led me to believe problems were rare and easily fixed. I was supposed to go in for my pre-op today. I canceled yesterday due to scheduling problems. However, I will not be rescheduling that appointment, thanks to what I've read. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you for letting the truth be known. My prayers are with you for your continued healing, and may God bless you for blessing others.

Guest guest
We must really say THANK YOU for making us feel that our suffering has not been in vain! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! We love to get letters such as yours, knowing that we have helped at least one person make a wise decision and avoid the same suffering that we have endured. It is like a balm to the soul! You are certainly welcome to stay....no need to run off! Kenda is on our group for the same reason, and her presence has been a true blessing to us. She is an angel that supports us in our struggle, and we appreciate it so much. It really helps to know that others care enough to encourage us and come along side us because so many of us have been neglected and our illnesses swept under the rug by so many people--it is really healing to hear kind words from others who haven't been where we have been. You have done a good thing for yourself. Never look back or change your mind. Your body is a treasure, your health to be valued and protected, and you have made a decision that has guarded that. Bless you! Pattyjtaylor813 <jtaylor813@...> wrote: Just wanted all of you to know that I canceled my saline implant surgery in part because of what I've learned on this group. Guest guest
Thank you, Patty, (and also Lynda and Penni) for your kind words. I won't run off so quickly, and I appreciate the invitation to stay. I hope I can be an encouragement to you. Oddly enough, I have had to deal with some (though not as severe, perhaps) of the symptoms that many with implants have dealt with, though I don't have them. I have systemic candidiasis (yeast infection) which I have been treating for the past few years. I have had some success, and the chronic fatigue, memory loss, brain fog, etc. is slowly getting better. In fact, the information on fungus growing in and leaking out of the implants is one of the major things that got my attention, because I already deal with that problem without implants. Thank you again for helping me see the light, and not plunge myself right back into a bigger problem than I have already dealt with! For any of you suffering with fungal problems, I may be able to offer some help and encouragement. Also, as a side note, as I was doing this research on the implants, I had to wonder if many of the problems associated with them also have to do with the antibiotics given before, during, and after surgery which already sets one up for fungus to overgrow around the implant (fungal infections often go to the weakest parts of the body). Praying for you all. You have a special place in my heart. Jen > Just wanted all of you to know that I canceled my saline implant > surgery in part because of what I've learned on this group. Guest guest
My step son had a huge problem with fungal rashes under his arms and also thick scaly dandruff on his head. The stuff was nasty. I kept telling him he needed to avoid sweets, especially soda. He is 16, what do I know. He kept drinking and eating what ever he wanted. His problems got worse, enough for him to beg me to think of something. I took him to the kinesiologist. The Dr. put him on zinc to help get rid of the fungus on his head and armpits. Then he noticed something, a bad smell coming from my son's feet. The first words out of his mouth was...stay away from sodas, especially Mountain Dew. (which happens to be his drug of choice). asked him how he knew he drank mountain dew. The doc said that pop strips the body of magnesium and a body low in magnesium emits a bad odor. So, he was also put on magnesium. He was told to stay off the sodas. (He still disobeys from time to time). This was all at the beginning of the summer. He no longer has a scaly scalp and the nasty foot odor is gone also.jtaylor813 <jtaylor813@...> wrote: Thank you, Patty, (and also Lynda and Penni) for your kind words. Guest guest
Wow, it's interesting how fungal infections and magnesium deficiency usually go hand in hand. My 5 year old and I were both taking magnesium for a while, but after going home to see relatives, I got a little lazy and haven't been taking it or giving it to her. My husband and I have both been commenting on how we need to throw some of her shoes away because they hold in bad foot odor. Who would have thought that maybe all she needs is to be back on magnesium! Guest guest
Thanks. He's working on me. I actually surprised myself when I cried after canceling my procedure. I realized that this surgery has been in the back of my mind for a long time, even when I didn't think I'd actually do it (I figured when I got the nerve and money, I'd do it someday, and I looked forward to not feeling less-than any more). I didn't even realize the emotions ran so deep until I finally came to the decision to cancel the procedure. All along, I've tried to teach my daughter how to be content with and thankful for who she is, and I probably need my 5-year-old to teach me a thing or two. Yep, I've learned a lot about myself through this, and am still learning. Thanks for the prayer--I sure need His perspective. > > > > Just wanted all of you to know that I canceled my saline implant > > surgery in part because of what I've learned on this group.
