Guest guest
Can anyone recomend a primary care doctor in Baton Rouge, LA understands that Neuropathy, CMT. I wear KAFOs also and this complicates the issue.I am new to the area and the doctor I have is a pill pusher and does not realy do any checking of the progression. Thank you Dan
Guest guest
Dan, It's my experience that primary care doctors don't know CMT. I have had to slowly teach them, lol, one time I brought along an research article on CMT and began to talk about it, he looked at it intently, then said " I am really out of my league here " . It seems to me if you want a doc to monitor your progression that it would be best to find a neurologist. I only know of 2 in New Orleans, one in Shreveport, and one in Houma. Careful of the pill pushers...make sure you give them the expanded medical alert list. I don't understand why KAFOs complicates the issue, but maybe try orthopedist Dehne, MD 200 Henry Clay Ave, New Orleans Phone: 504-896-9569 He's affiliated with Children's Hosp. but he may be able to give you referrals to adult neurologists and orthotists too.
