Guest guest
My 14 year old daughter was recently admitted to a hospital for depression and making suicide plans. She was diagnosed with CMT type 1A 2 years ago and she gets shocking pains several times an hour. The pain along with seeing her dad's health get worse due to CMT is just more than she knows how to deal with right now. Her neurologist prescribed Elavil for the pain, headaches and sleep issues (we were unaware of the suicide thoughts at that time) but she is only on 20 mg (her dose was increased yesterday from 10 mg). Doctor at the hospital does not think elavil is best for depression but is not comfortable mixing antidepressants. Is there another medicine that can be used for the nerve pain that could also be used with a different antidepressant? She also started having panic attacks and has started trembling worse than usual. Also are there any active support groups for kids with CMT in the Philadelphia area? I just don't know what to do...I just want to take her pain away but can't. Barb
