Guest guest
My rheumy retired just after my last appt. The group of docs where he was had sent a letter saying our GP tere would see us while they sought a new rheumy. I tried to see my GP there last week, and he blew up- began to yell at me....first he said he was NOT my GP- (I have been his patient for 18 years! but have not seen him in 2 years as I have not been sick or injured) He said he is NOT a rheumy and would NOT write my Rx and my handicapped parking placard expires in March and he would not fill out the form for me to get a new one. (worse 2 hours later my childs ped who is also at that office and part of that group calld and cancelled my sons appt for later that same day, saying the ped was siick.....and my gyne in that office did not return 2 calls I placed trying to set an appt for follow up for ovarian cysts!) SO, I got out the phone book. Only 1 other rheumy is listed inmy phone book. I called them....and the SOONEST they could get me in is APril 25, and they would not write me meds or orderlabs or fill in my parking placard either....not until I see the doc (I understand, but, ) That doc said they have gotten LOTS of my rheumys patients who all also said same as me, they had been told the group was getting a new rheumy and meanwhile the GP would see them and then it did not happen. I asked if they knew any other rhemys around....nope. I have no idea what to do, now. Seems all of a sudden I have no rheumy, AND no gyne, and no GP and my kids now seem to not have a pediatrician. ALl at once BAM! and not sure how hard it will be to find someone else- I have Medicare and me and my kids have ChampVA coverage.....and many places seem to not accept this insurance. SO here I aam with ovarian cysts and RA and my son is mid major eye surgical care with some weird thing mkaing his hair fall out on back of his head - ?fungal from surgery? and we have NO doc? On top of it I am nervous about a new doc, anyway. It took my other doc years to finally TREAT my illness.....said it was atypical. Is another doc gonna make me wait and put me thru all kinds of who knows what? So- does anyone know of a rheumy in Northern IL? You can email me, if you prefer..... dreamer_cb@...
