, Im sorry. I had a similar thing happen to me before my oldest child was

born. I had had to have kidney surgery, then the next month found out I was

pregnant. I lost my baby the same way. My body was just too stressed to handle

it. A few months later, I did get pregnant, and it was difficult- I was on bed

rest thru most of it, but my son is almost 7 now. I know it hurts a lot. I wish

I could help. Im so, so sorry. I wish you all the best. MAry Jane.

I'm so sorry about the stress and waiting for your baby. I wanted to tell you

that I had that same thing with my daughter. I had already had 4 miscarriages

and was pregnant with my daughter. At 6 1/2 weeks, they noted no heartbeat.

They also wanted to do a D & C, but I wasn't ready to give up. 6 days later,

they got a heartbeat!! My wonderful daughter, Cassandra Darlene, is now 7 years

old. All my prayers are with you and your baby!

wow! that is encouraging. they said i was 7 weeks along and I've read that

they can tell

how far along you are within 4 days accuracy. so MAYBE they are just a little

wrong and

next wednesday will show something different. i'm scared to hope too much, but

am

doing so anyway.

, I'm so sorry but hang in there! I had 2 early miscarriages

and with my 3rd pregnancy was sent to a high risk clinic. I was 42

with RA. At 3 weeks they told me I " popped positive " on a lupus

test & had high blood pressure (122/80). At my first ultra sound at

8 weeks they questioned if I was really pg & when assured that I had

had a blood test that was positive told my doc I had a tubual

pregnancy. I refused to allow her to do a laparoscopy after she

said she " didn't know " what that would do to the fetus if it was not

tubal but normal. She insisted on a hormone level test which had to

be done daily til my next ultrasound--results were later misread by

nurse & confirmed tubual! I refused treatment because I had NO

symptoms. Next ultrasound hubby & me were told no heartbeat & they

called it a missed abortion. Said I would miscarry soon. 5 days

later I went to see the first doc I had seen at the clinic, who had

been on vacation for two weeks, and he greeted me & hubby with a big

smile and " How the new parents doing? " I burst out in tears as my

hubby asked him to read my chart. After putting it down he

said " I'm the expert on ultrasounds--come in Friday & I'll do

another. " On Friday, he looked and said " What's the problem?

Everything looks great--see the heartbeating? " My daughter was 21

last month & is in her third year in college.

, I pray that all will be well with this pregnancy and that

their diagnosis is as incorrect as mine was. But go with your gut--

don't allow a d & C unless they say you yourself are in danger. My

regular gyn/ob, who I switched back to at 12 or 13 weeks said she

felt that in most cases, it was best to let nature decide when a

miscarriage would take place and the d & c could come afterwards.

I am sorry to hear that this is happening to you - go

with your heart and your gut. If you feel that it is

too soon to do anything drastic like a D & C, don't do

it, until your doctor feels that your health is in

jepoardy, and then do what is right for yourself. I

had a miscarriage early in my first pregnancy, and I

know how hard it is, you have still bonded with the

little being inside of you even at that early stage.

I pray that the next ultrasound will give you the

answers you need.

I feel so much more hopeful after hearing everyone's stories. I

wanted to ask the doc what the point of a D & C is because it seems so

unnatural. Unless there is NO CHANCE of life, why mess with it. If

it's an unviable embryo/fetus, won't it come out on it's own as a

miscarriage? My miscarriage at Thanksgiving was completely on it's

own and there was no tissue left inside me when it was over. When he

mentioned D & C, I just assumed it was a situation in which the baby

would con't to grow and develop and be born dead unless I got it out

through the procedure. Today I have learned different.

Kathe, I really like the idea of refusing the D & C unless my own health

is in danger. My husband's ex-wife (I call her my wife-in-law) has a

friend who was told no heartbeat at 12 weeks, but it turns out she

wasn't 12 weeks. Like me, she had miscarried, then gotten pregnant

again without ever having a period in between. They simply missed

getting the age of the baby correct.

I was also told my baby had no heartbeat at five weeks into my

second pregnancy. (I had a lot of complications in my first

pregnancy, so they were doing early ultrasounds to make sure the

baby was healthy.) So, they told me to go home, that I should

miscarry within five days, they re-scheduled another ultrasound for

a week later in case I had not miscarried. I didn't, and when I

went back a week later there was a heartbeat. My daughter is now

almost five.

So, don't give up hope, because it seems like there are a lot of

people here that were told there was no heartbeat and then the baby

was fine.

Hang in there, and if the unthinkable happens and if you really have

lost this baby, we are all here for you, supporting you and praying

for you.

Hugs-

Melisa

Thanksgiving was just 8 weeks ago. It's unusual (but, not impossible :)

for someone to get pregnant within days of a miscarriage. If you're pregnant,

I'd suspect you're closer to 4 weeks, than 7. Heartbeat's very hard to detect

at 4 weeks. If you're not having symptoms of impending miscarriage (spotting,

bleeding, cramping, back pain, etc.), a D & C can wait a bit.This early in a

pregnancy, I, personally, would not opt for a D & C based solely on ultrasound

results. Also, hormone levels should be checked several times over the course

of a

few days. Labs should give a clearer picture of viability. If labs indicate

miscarriage or resorption, then I'd opt for a D & C.

D & C's are done as a precautionary measure in miscarriage. Many, many

miscarriages are not complete and can cause horrific complications, i.e., severe

hemorrhage. When hemorrhage starts in the midst of a miscarriage, it's very

hard to control. It requires immediate (meaning minutes, not hours) treatment in

order to save the woman's life (and uterus). Because this type of hemorrhage

is so severe and swiftly life-threatening, most ob/gyn's prefer to err on the

side of caution and perform a D & C when a miscarriage is imminent. A D & C is

typically a very controlled, routine, safe procedure, that's intended to spare

the

mom's life and her reproductive organs.

Hope this helps some. Saying a prayer that you got your date's wrong and

all will soon be well : )

Oh, , my heart goes out to you! Just got around to reading your

post . . . and wondering what has happened. Losing a baby is very

difficult.

My daughter-in-law had this happen to her with her first pregnancy.

The baby just stopped growing, and they couldn't find a heartbeat at

about 3 months. She had a miscarriage a couple of weeks later. We

all grieved for that lost child. We had a prayer service for it, and

my daughter-in-law has an small angel sitting on her dresser in memory

of her lost child.

They told her it was quite possible that she would get pregnant again

right away, as women seem to be very fertile after a miscarriage. It

took her about 3 months, and she had to give herself progesterin shots

twice a week. That pregnancy was very sucessful, she gave birth to

beautiful twin girls. Now, she's pregnant again, giving herself the

shots again, and at four months, everything looks good.

I hope that you are ok, and that even if you do have a miscarriage,

you will be able to conceive again, and carry a child to term.

God bless,
