Guest guest
Isn't is amazing that when one keeps his/her mind off of pain, it seems to be gone. When I teach, I am so involved in what I do and so busy relating to the kiddies, that by the end of the day, I realize I'd forgotten all about it and I feel fine. It's great therapy. But I must admit, I do not have the colossal flare-ups nor the pain some of you are experiencing; I do have a high tolerance for pain, and so far, I never had to take any pain medication. Let's hope this lasts for a while. Thanks a. a Papola <a54@...> wrote: , I exercise every day. I do intense water exercises in my pool just about every day. I practice yoga and use every opportunity I can to include exercise. If I'm standing at the sink I'll incorporate exercise into it. Cleaning is done by moving to music which keeps my mind off of pain and helps me focus on the music instead. If anyone was watching me they'd think I'm nuts LOL! Exercise for me, is better than any prescription any doctor has ever written in my 25 year history of having RA. Days when I get out of bed feeling rotten, I get in the hot tub and do gentle range of motion exercises and stretches. A bad start will turn into a good day by doing this. I wish everyone had access to water for therapy. It has dramatically cut down on the medication I take. It is common for people with RA to stop exercising because of pain. I didn't exercise as much as I should have for many years but am now in a good routine. For me, not exercising causes more pain and stiffness. It hurts when I first start, but after a few minutes of gentle exercise, the pain decreases. When I first started swimming in my pool, I couldn't make it across ONCE and now I can do 10 laps. I encourage everyone to find a way to exercise in some way that works for their situation. a On May 30, 2006, at 7:37 AM, C. Y. wrote: > > How much exercise do you all do?
