Hi Merrill:

Welcome! This is a great place to come to for support

and information. I also take Ultram, and there are

times when it just does not seem to work, but it is

better than the Ultracet I was on. Have you tried a

sleep med? I am on Ambien CR and it has really helped

me. Something to talk to your doctor about, though.

I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, and that has helped

my leg pain quite a bit, you should talk to your

doctor about that too. There are some good new meds

out there, and hopefully one will help you.

I am sorry to hear that the fibro is so out of control

right now. Heat always seems to help me - hot showers

mostly, heating pad, rice socks, that sort of thing.

I also read and at times can lose myself so much in my

book that I forget my pain, at least for a little

while. I am usually sitting with the heating pad and

a massage pad on my back when I do which is also

relaxing. Do you have RA too or is it fibro that

causes all of your pain? I have both, and OA.

..

I understand about the self-esteem issues and

wondering what the future will hold. If it is this

bad now, what will it be like in another five years?

It's something that no one can tell you, because

everyone is different, both in the disease and in

their response to medications. But the most we can do

is try to work with it as best we can, and try adjust.

It is not easy, and we do understand what you are

going through.

Glad you found us -
