I saw this and thought, RA has been around forever how come they are just

coming up with this statement. Anything to upset people.

I think so too and also maybe it has something to do with new meds

being blamed for increase in lymphoma. Who knows. I just wondered

if this was something new or just new to me. I think it is more to

do with upsetting people like you mentioned. So I won't let it.:)

Thanks. Take care.

Yes I have heard of this and have a friend from another group that has

lymphoma now. She has also had numerous strokes and heart attacks.

Again they claim the chronic inflammation has a lot to do with this.

Its one of the reasons my rheummy is so against daily steriod use. It

is scarey...you take drugs to try to feel better only to find out they

can kill you in another way.

Ebony, the investigation of the relationship between RA and lymphoma is not

new. In this study, they concluded that the association seems to be with RA

itself, not the treatments.

MyRheumatologist told me about the increased risk of Lymphoma in

people with RA. But she also told me that even though it is

increased in comparison to the general population, the risk is still

small. She also said that most of the studies of RA related

lymphoma were in populations that did not have aggressive, early

treatment for the RA. She said the chances are much lower for

people now, with early treatment.
