Guest guest
Hi Ann: Like you, my RA is under good control with Mtx and Enbrel, but the Fibromyalgia is causing me a great deal of pain. I began taking Lyrica about two months ago, at the first month I was on 75 mg. twice daily, and my doctor just increased the dosage to 150mg. twice daily. It has helped quite a bit with the nerve pain in my legs especially, and has helped me to be able to sleep better, along with sleep medications. I am in the Fibro group, and some of the people there have had problems with Lyrica like migraines, but I have not had any problems with it. I am also taking other meds as well for my Fibro, so in combination with the other drugs the Lyrica is working well for me. I wish you the best of luck in your decision - I would vote yes based on my experience. Kathe in CA --- eaprescott <aphillips@...> wrote: > Hi! I haven't posted in a v-e-r-y long time. Guest guest
Thanks Kathe!! I thought it sounded a lot like neurontin, which I've taken before but didn't help. My fibro is everywhere, just pain that makes you groan! so I was happy to hear about this new drug. Right now I'm cutting back on the plaquenil so I can get off of it. It was a very good, cheap drug but I think it has quit working. Don't want to jump right off, so I'm weaning myself off. Should take a couple of weeks. THEN! I will know if it really quit working. I'll start the Lyrica after I quit the plaquenil so I'll know which side effects are which. Thanks so much for your input, you're the first person I've had contact with who uses this drug! Guest guest
Ann: Glad to help. I started out on Plaquenil too, it worked great for a while, almost 2-1/2 years actually, and then just stopped being effective, which lead me to change to Mtx. What RA drug are you being changed to after the Plaquenil? You still need to be aggressive on the RA too, even if it is in a quiet stage. Guest guest
Good Grief, I've been away for a month. I'm sorry Kathe, I'm just now getting back to this group. I've now been off the Plaquenil for 2 weeks and feel no difference so that tells me it had stopped working. As for another RA drug, I'm only on the Humira twice a month. I guess my rheumy thought the Lyrica would help. I tried it for a week and a half but didn't notice any difference, no migraines, just nothing. I go back to my doc the first week of May so I guess we'll talk then about what's next. Thanks again for your speedy reply, I appreciate it! Ann > > > > > > > Hi!
