SO now Jimmy has to go back in, probably the first week of March, for a surgery nearly identical to his 9 hour surgery back in Nov. The eye surgeon says becuz he already took so much scar tissue out the first time, there is far less to work with, the prognosis is not good at all, Jimmy could lose his eye during or in the year after this new surgery, and even if this surgery goes well, he will still need another surgery in approx 6 months, to remove surgery induced cataracts and exchange the heavy silicone oil that is inside his eye now (trying to hold the retina in place) with lighter weight clearer saline. > The recovery is hard, especially for an active 10 yr old boy, he must lie face down quietly for approx 2-4 weeks post surgery and then he cannot run, jump or horseplay for months after. (lest the retina again detach) > The surgeon has given up hope of salvaging any vision.
