Hi :

Yes, Lyme disease, as can others, can mimic some of

the signs of RA with heat, swelling and pain in the

joints. Did you have a positive or negative RA

factor, or positive test for inflammation (forgot the

name of that one)? There is a test for Lyme disease,

I know.

Do you live in an area where there are ticks or been

on vacation somewhere that does? I believe the start

of Lyme disease also has something about rashes on the

body - did you have any rashes that were unaccounted

for. I think Lyme is treatable with antibiotics but

you have to get it early. Ask your doctor about it,

and have him decide if you need to be tested or not.

It could also be that you are doing some wishful

denial that you don't have RA, that it is something

else, and we all do that. It's hard to accept that we

have something that is never going to go away, and

will always cause pain, and maybe even limit our

mobility drastically. I know, I am there with you on

that one, and it's been 8 years for me.

I can't remember, sorry, if you are on any RA meds.

Are they helping you? Have you been on the meds for

very long? Sorry I have trouble keeping people's

medications and such straight, but if you point me in

the right direction, myself or someone else should be

able to help you. Take care -
