Guest guest
: Did she JUST start keeping it out all the time recently? If so, maybe she is hurting somewhere? LizMom to Tori, 12 on 2/23DS/ASD/ODD/OCD/GERD/etc... My daughter has a new compulsion! She has spent every waking moment for the past week with her tongue on her chin and spit pouring out of her mouth. I know it's pretty typical with DS to play with the tongue and leave their mouth open at times, but I'm talking always. She doesn't talk and she doesn't eat, so I really do mean ALWAYS! She also understands the command, " put your tounge in your mouth. " I've always said that to her and she puts it away when told, but not now. She doesn't respond to the command anymore and when I push it back in her mouth with my finger she screams at me. It's important to me that my kids are excepted in the 'real world'. So, they dress nice and have their hair done ect. When your have your mouth hanging open and spit pouring out it's hard to be taken seriously. Of course, she's also much cuter when she doesn't have her tongue sitting on her chin! I don't know why it bugs me so much. Because she refuses to obey, because it makes her look dumb, because her skin is a mess, all of the above?? Do I need to chill out and not worry about it? It's driving me crazy! -- Liz DeSantis " The person who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The one who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been before. " " Creativity in living is not without its attendant difficulties, for peculiarity breeds contempt. And the unfortunate thing about being ahead of your time is that when people finally realize you were right, they'll say it was obvious all along. Guest guest
Have you taken a look at her throat? When ever Aden has a sore throat he tends to stick his tongue out. Or could she be getting a new tooth? Another cause might actually be the irritation on her chin. Our pediatrician recently got me using cortisone eczema cream (over the counter stuff) on Aden's hands when he chews on them. It helps heal the skin and tastes GROSS (bonus). So he stops chewing. Hope this helps. Hugs Mom to Aden 8 DS ASD ADHD and Aren 5 ADHD Sent from my iPod
