Guest guest
Below is what I sent to our local support group as our RSVP for their Holiday Party this year...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and I (plus Aubrey and her new PA) are thinking about coming... It has been another rough Holiday season so far and I'm anxious and gun-shy these days socially as we are being deliberately discouraged from family parties because of Aubrey's past behavior issues, and frankly because my family members just don't want to deal...so if we go anywhere anymore-it's where we can feel "safe"...I advocate so fiercely for behavioral support and Aubrey has improved so much as she is maturing but still has a long way to go. Honestly, Ann, my heart breaks all over again-each time I see other children with Ds that don't have autism, OCD, ADHD etc too, as it reminds me how different she truly is and how isolated we feel these days because of it. We loved the ProjectFocus experience so much, but even in that amazing environment those feelings of anxiety and being judged from other parents there surfaced unexpectedly and it was truly heartbreaking.I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to watch Aubrey perform at Windward Mall. It meant the world to us!If we are having a good day on Friday, we will try to come.MAHALO for inviting us!Desi, and Aubrey To: "dsoh@..."
