Guest guest
(and all), We're looking for some good hints on apps, too. We just bought a new IPAD2. I've downloaded many of the free apps designed for special needs just to check them out. None appear to be what we're looking for. Admittedly, we haven't yet let our 17 yr (ds-asd, non-verbal, very low-functioning, pro with a DVD/VHS, though) use it because we wanted to figure it out for ourselves first. Plus, of course, he will definitley sling it against the wall if he finds the thing frustrating at all. That's to be avoided, needless to say. I did download one app that I hope will be promising for helping him learn to communicate (he has a tech speak but I don't think anyone has taken the time to teach him how to use it). The app is called iclickispeak (or might be iclickitalk - can't remember). I only cost a few dollars. You might try that one. I'd like to know about any others, free or not, that anyone else has found helpful. , just the step-mom - part-time.
Guest guest
Dear , I would suggest you check out the website and facebook pages for A4CWSN (apps for children with special needs). You can see videos of children playing with apps to give you a good idea if they will work for your child. And on Facebook, one member (or developer) will tell the group when certain apps are on sale. I have gotten amazing deals. They also run "app parties" where they give out a certain number of codes for specific apps, but you need to be very quick for that and I have not participated in that part of it.
