We use the I-Pad at home on the kitchen table with the Prologue2go app. uses it to tell me what she wants to eat for meals and it's been pretty successful, amazing even for that purpose. We also use it to involve her in menu planning and grocery list making. I'm hoping to expand it to other activities. We had tried the prologue on the Ipod but the icons were too small and the sound output was too low to be useful, even with a speaker system. My husband and I also use the Ipad to check the news & surf the web. It basically lives on the kitchen table. Sometimes will look at videos on it but she seems to hate games on it, especially talking games. My granddaughters, ages 4 y.o and 2 y.o both love it and fight over it when they are here.

At her job training/adult transition program uses a Pocket Talk, the little portable Go Talk. It's cheaper and more portable plus I don't worry about it getting stolen. She also continues to love the Leapster explorer for playing games.

I have been getting recaps but haven't posted to the group in years. We moved from Seattle to the country, just outside Mt. Vernon, WA. in 2010. adjusted very well. Right now we are trying to make the transition to adulthood as she is 21 y.o. Her sisters have left the nest so it's just Ken and I and at home these days. Here, the emphasis is on job training but with all the budget cuts, the jobs are scarce for her. We are however following that path as she really seems to like work like towel folding, assembly, etc. She doesn't seem to enjoy any of the social activities I try to push her into, special olympics, etc. But I plan to keep at it. I still have not been successful in getting medicaid personal care money for her even though she is extremely qualified. If we can get a little money for her care, we plan to keep her with us at home as it works for us. Sometimes though, I think I need her in my life more than she needs me.
