Guest guest
Thanks Irma, but I don't think that is what my daughter is having done. Its called a Pelvic Support Osteotomy. Her femur ball/head has deteriorated and won't fit into her hip socket, she is unable to walk. The doctor said the recovery is going to tough and hard for us to take care of her, she will be in a brace with a ring around her leg, still not sure about a cast. We have a pre-Op appt next month to go into more detail as to what expect. Im mostly concerned about controlling her pain and keeping her occupied bc I think she will pretty much be limited to activity for quite some time. Hi, Everyone.....CM....I'm not sure what information you're looking for? My son, Gareth, had hip surgery 8 yrs ago because he had eroded away the hip socket of his right hip due to dysplasia and flipping his socket in and out for years. He had the Ganz procedure done at Hershey Medical Center, was sent home with no cast, but did have a large hip brace he had to wear for months. They had him up and walking the next day. He still has the 5 pins in his hip to hold it together. At the time, they did offer a hip replacement, but at his age (15) they said it wouldn't last his lifetime and, at that time, you only had the option of one hip replacement/hip per lifetime. Take care, Everyone. Margaret Mom to Gareth, 23 y/o, DS/ASD/OCD
