Guest guest
Just an update on Milly's appt this am with the doc. Of course, since yesterday, she is eating just fine, everything, no issues. How ironic is that? I'm lucky, our Gastro. is excellent, experienced with developmental challenges and a huge advocate for medical services for our guys, especially transitioning to adulthood. He's retiring in 3 years, OMG, not allowed! He didn't think the Prevacid was related to loss of appetite, but suggested that I could stop it for 2 weeks and watch what happened, plus gave me a prescription for a different acid reducer (Nexium) to try if the Prevacid is the culprit after all. I won't stop the Prev. while she's eating well, though. She has lost 8 lbs since last November, but she is still a healthy weight (104lbs and 4' 6 " tall). Her ongoing issues with excess intestinal gas are still, in his opinion, due to her swallowing air/teeth grinding etc., it depends on how aggressive we wish to be in treating it. He did give me a prescription for a new med for excess gas, (I don't think I want her to be one of the first on this revised med - Prucolopride - this used to affect the heart and Milly has a VSD, now the formula has been changed and the risk is not really there, but even a tiny risk is too much). follow up is in 4 months. Next step is the visit to the Dentist - again, a good doc, experienced and compassionate with special needs adults and children (am I lucky or what?) - Milly's still putting fingers into her mouth at times, and drooling like crazy right now. I'l push for some X=rays, not easy with my girl. sue
