Guest guest
After school stalled yet again wrote email to person who handles complaints in our district...Good Morning Mrs. ____,I am single mom to Aubrey McKenzie, 13, Down syndrome Trisomy 21, PDDNOS and mildly hearing impaired who is an eighth grader at ______ Intermediate School. Please see link below which will give you an idea of how bright and communicative she wishes to be! have been advised that you would be the most appropriate person in our district to help us facilitate my daughter's current communication device (itouch/Proloquo2go) to cross to home and community immediately. Please see email below sent to SSC and IEP team members at _____ Intermediate School. I will also forward SSC's response email to you next. I also left a message on your answering machine earlier today regarding our situation that has gone on for almost two years.I have sent repeated emails to the school detailing multiple situations regarding my daughter's frustration with communication and the resulting physical harm to school and DOH personnel, others in the community as well as family and friends-that could have been avoided with the appropriate device being made available to Aubrey throughout her entire day; which certainly would be our most appropriate course in addressing the needs of the whole child and especially the safety of our family, community and to Aubrey herself. I will forward the school's response to you. I do not understand why the device cannot cross to home and community without delay for the safety of our family and community. I believe that this is responsible parenting and expect that we would all work together to achieve what is pono for all involved.I look forward to your timely response and advice regarding this urgent matter. Sincerely, Desi McKenziefor Aubrey McKenzie
