Guest guest
Hi Betsy, We use miralax daily. We started out with fruit juices, then corn syrup in Aden's drinks. Miralax has worked the best for us and can be mixed into any drink. Hugs To: Sent: Monday, March 26, 2012 1:43 PMSubject: Constipation issues? I know i read some posts about some kids being constipated. Was just wondering what some of you do to try to keep everything flowing normally. has had problems since she was born and her bowel movments reminded me of soda cans...sorry to sound graphic but its true. i know she needs a well balanced diet, but all she will eat is chicken nuggets, plain hamburgers no bun, cheese doodles, pop tarts and goldfish. I wish i could get her to eat brownies cause then i would puree up vegtables to throw in there. Betsy mom to 14 ds/asd
Guest guest
Hi Betsy,My son, , tends to get constipated and we have found miralax to be very helpful. We mix a teaspoon in his daily juice and it helps regulate his BMs, as it is a stool softener, not a laxative. 's pediatrician told us that miralax can be used long term if necessary with no potential side effects. I would ask 's pediatrician his or her thoughts about miralax and hope it will help too.Best of luckMom to , 8.5 yr. old ds/pdd-nos To: From: elzjan@...Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2012 20:43:21 +0000Subject: Constipation issues? Guest guest
My daughter has Hirschsprung's, and her intestines are not normal. She has had many intestinal surgeries as well. We have used Miralax and Senekot for years, but it is used with a well-balanced diet, with pediasure nutritional supplement. We use pediasure instead of milk. She also has zantac for reflux. We monitor all food and bowel habits, and adjust the medication dosage when necessary. This has worked successfully for years now, so, for her at least, there are no known side-effects to long-term use of these medications. She is 16 now, but when she was a baby, we used breast milk fortifier added to breast milk. We have never used cows milk. Her diet has been carefully managed and monitored from birth. Perhaps, talking with your physician about adding pediasure to her diet may help. Vanilla has a high-fibre version, which we use. But, I also know they have chocolate, banana and strawberry flavors as well, but they do not have added fibre. We keep it in the refrigerator, and call it a milk shake. It tastes like dessert, but has great nutrients to balance her diet. I know i read some posts about some kids being constipated. Guest guest
You don't need a rx and we actually use the generic brand from Walmart. It's much cheaper and just as effective. Start off with a small dose 1tsp or so and go up slowly cuz a too large dose can cause loose stools.
