Guest guest
My daughter started shortly after she got the asd dx a few months ago (has she been researching how to act?) It's a really loud, deep " UHHHHHH " that goes right through your skull. It drowns out every other sound. I can't even hear myself talk sometimes. She also grinds her teeth and makes a noise with her tongue. We have tried different chewy items, but nothing is very effective. > > ....If she > doesn't [grind her teeth], then she will find some other way to stim for the day. Like > moan. Not hum! Humming is a nice comforting sound, moaning is not. Guest guest
does this too. He's 7. Part of me is happy to actually hear his voice, part of me is worried that this is going to become a "thing".Sent from my iPhone My daughter started shortly after she got the asd dx a few months ago (has she been researching how to act?) Guest guest
Someone put on here a while ago a list of autistim behaviors that are common in kids that have Down Syndrome. My daughter has every single trait! This included groaning/deep throaty noises and teeth grinding. It was very interesting! The varying of mouth noises in this house is enough to make a person crazy sometimes! No, my daughter isn't verbal. She's 8 and has never said a single word. Thanks for sharing, Janice. I often feel no one knows what it's like. Katy > > ....If she > doesn't [grind her teeth], then she will find some other way to stim for the day. Like > moan. Not hum!
