Guest guest
The later the person is in stage/grade liver disease cirrhosis stages - medical problems and complications - varices - portal hypertension - bleeds etc.... the less chances of clearing remaining clear more chances of more severe sides from tx. Some can be life threatening and worsening of stage/grade liver disease HCV and possibly thrown into full bleeds bleeding out - stroke - from compensated to decompensated cirrhosis - ESLD - liver failure needing an emergency transplant or worse. The later in stages the lower the possibility of clearing HCV and remaining clear with tx's on the market now. Yes Dr's are now offering tx in late and even compensated cirrhosis stages or decompensated ESLD before being listed or receiving a transplant. The odds are even lower for not clearing but for lowering the viral load pre transplant for tx again post transplant ASAP medically cleared for it.. When if enough enough on tx and for our safety ?????? I am not against tx but tx is very strong toxic meds not medically safe or medically approved for everyone. I fear for others on tx at all costs no matter their high risk factors especially in cirrhosis stages - esld and it can cost them dearly. Our decision making and medically again falls all into our own laps. What do we do or don't do and when - tx as early as possible in stage for better results less sides - now - have time to wait for better safer tx's especially if a failed responder to tx - or not - trials - trying tx's on the market again 2nd 3rd 4th times - try tx in late cirrhosis stages or esld with much higher medical risk factors - transplant isn't a cure will need tx again asap after transplant ????? WOW !!!!!!!!! It's the individual person pt that must make the best decisions choices for them for their lives after knowing aware of all the medical facts their own risk factors all the pros and cons for them and tx options or not. I hope and pray they have a great team of Dr's - Specialists - Hepatologist on board under their care all consulting each other all in sync and ready to handle any medical problems emergencies that may happen for pt's on tx in compensated cirrhosis - decompensated - esld and a ready fast access to emergency care at high skilled levels rankings for liver care - trauma er's - hosp's - transplant teams. All pt's even in early stages need the medical care and tx's of HCV medical specialists - hepatologists additionally trained in the medical care and tx's of HCV pt's. Many GP's and even Gastro's wait too long for proper referrals to higher or different skilled medical specialists and Hepatologist for our care and specialized care tx's and of complications and yes even for referrals for transplants.
