Guest guest
<<Dylan will be 17 in May. DS, Autism, Type 1 diabetes, Hashimoto's, Celiac, alopecia, aspirates thin liquids, non-verbal & severe behavioral issues>> Hi, Everyone....Becky...I was rereading some of these older clips and realized that Dylan is about the same age as Gareth was when he was dx'd with sine Scleraderma. One of the hallmark signs of Scleraderma is esophageal dismotilty. Do you know if this is a new medical issue with Dylan or something he has always had? A simple blood test will determine if he has the markers for Scleraderma. I know it's highly impossible, but I had never heard of Scleroderma till Gareth was dx'd with it at age 18. As for insensitive comments, the very first one I got was the day after Gareth was born and some nurse put her head in my hospital room and asked *Are you going to keep your son?* *What????* She repeated the question and I was totally flabbergasted. *Of course, I'm keeping my child!!!* *Well, I have to ask. There's people on waiting lists for kids like these.* Then, there was the MIL.........years of *crap* from her. But the worst one was when she pointed her finger in my face and yelled *If you had only loved and rocked Gareth, he wouldn't be the way he is now (age 6)* That was way back when and *refrigerator* Moms were the cause of autism. Take care, Everyone. Margaret Mom to Gareth, 23 y/o, DS/ASD/OCD
