I was working as a pastor in a church and we had a pastor/psychologist on staff who had written many books. He called my Isaac, who was about a year old and cute as the dickens a mongoloid. I looked at him and said, "do you realize how incredibly outdated you are? Mongoloids are people from Mongolia. Isaac is half Irish and half African American!" He looked at me like I was from another planet but the church has never matured and I truly believe he was one of the reasons. I have no warm and fuzzy feelings for the man and truly hope he is out of practice.Let us hope our experiences become fewer and fewer.Instead, the parents in our local DS teen group and I are complaining about how busy are kids are making us! We are nothing but taxi drivers! It is frustrating but we are ever so blessed to be in the position.Lori

I remember after my son was born the pastor of the church I was attending used the word mongoloid...he was such an authoritarian type guy and he did not like being corrected and we eventually left there so I never did correct him...but he is dead now anyway....you can see I am in a positive caring mood right?Annie
