Guest guest
I saw a new team of doctors yesterday and felt real good about them. I was in the hospital last month and discovered my primary care and liver doctor do not work out of the same hospital. I really like my primary care so he called in a different group of digestive disease doctors. The doc put me on Nadolol to prevent bleeding - says this drug lowers the pressure in your portal veins. I told him my blood pressure is usually really low - he said that is normal with hep c. I read about the medicine and it lowers your heart rate and your blood pressure. Does this seem correct ? How low can we go ?? Thanks
Guest guest
Hi , I am not sure yet about Portal Hypertension. BUT I know i used to take Nadolol for high blood pressure. It took some minor changes in dosages to regulate me. I am no longer on it but my hubby is. His dosage had to be adjusted several times. He has ended up taking Nadolol and another med too. The part I have found amusing for my hubby is 1 pill (i don't recall dosage) was too much. 1/2 was not enough. Now he takes 3/4 of a pill!!! He cuts them all in half. Then Halves the half on part of them!! I loved the nadolol. It helped me alot. But I just don't need it for now.I can only say talk to your primary doc. See what is said. I would get a home blood pressure monitor. The wrist kind are quick and easy. Good luckdSubject: Treatment - Portal HypertensionTo: HepatitisCSupportGroupForDummies Date: Wednesday, July 16, 2008, 6:12 AM I saw a new team of doctors yesterday and felt real good about them. Guest guest
Hi Dannella, Thank you for your reply - yes it seems to be used most often for high blood pressure - that's why I'm confused because I have low blood pressure. That's a good idea about the home monitor - I had one when I took care of my mom Thanks, > > Subject: Treatment - Portal Hypertension > To: HepatitisCSupportGroupForDummies > Date: Wednesday, July 16, 2008, 6:12 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > I saw a new team of doctors yesterday and felt real good about them. > > I was in the hospital last month and discovered my primary care and > > liver doctor do not work out of the same hospital.
