hi Dick

I ask because this site was rec to me and I found it friendly, unlike the last site I was at, but many ppl are interested in alt ways, not just tx, I think any info should be allowed on a site, but you all have your rules and reasons. If no one minds I will only come here to glean info, and give support and love to those who need it. I hope thats acceptable.

Hi Jack, To answer your questions, most docs don't make much of a distinction between the geno subtypes so it's not surprising that your doc didn't mention it. All Hep C is treated with the same drugs, they just work better on some genos than others - I don't know the stats but I do know that Peg/Riba works over 50 % of the time on Geno 1 (a or B) Both times I was

on tx were over 15 years ago & at that time the protocals were different. They didn't have peg- interferon then. I was on Interferon alone (3 x weekly) the first time & in a trial of Interferon & ribavirin the second. Neither worked - my viral load went up on the second try too. Both times my doc took me off after 10 weeks because I was not responding. I was ready to try the Peg/Riba tx in 2000 when they found that my cirrhosis had "decompensated" & more detailsaid that it could do me more harm than good. The new tx my doc wants me to try is supposed to be easier on

the liver I see him in two weeks & we'll discuss it in more detail. I'll let you know furthur when I know. It's a study or a trial, I'm not sure which. Anyways, keep asking those questions, it's the only way to learn.SuZieIf electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons? . 8:16 PMSuzie,

I've tried to take Interferon/Riboson two times and both times my white blood cells were dangerously low. Also my red blood cells are pretty low too. The first time my viral load went up, during treatment. What kind of reaction did you have when treating? Both times I treated, the doctors had to stop treatment due to the aforementioned blood abnormalities. I wasn't treated to completion but had to stop both times. Did you treat for the full 48 months? I was unable to get threw 6 weeks of treatment. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Jack

Hi,I'm the french Mom of a five year's old autistic child. It appeared very quickely my son was ill.I did my best to make the more analysis I could and to find one doctor who saw the interest of biomedical aspects of autism.

We started with TMG (and vit B complex) three months ago but with very small quantities (about 350-400 mg a day) because Antoine is very weak and also suffers from epilepsy. He also takes daily: EPA and GLA, schizandra extracts (good for the liver release of GSH), transdermal GSH, selenium, vit C, coQ10, aloe vera, kombucha (probiotics), epsom salt and taurine before sleeping. He of course follows a Gluten free/Casein free diet.

We also started one year ago an homeopathic treatment which is interessant but until now doesn't settle things clearly. We have begun a good educational therapy in october 2011.Our son is improving but slowly. He sometimes makes progress and then everything is going down again.

I've got the impression there is an acute infection problem with Antoine

because every month (nearly at the same moment at the early beginning of the month) his belly begins to become very big (gas?) then a few days later he suffers from diarrhea (especially in the morning (lack of Hcl?) then he becomes very very tied, doesn't eat nor drink anything for

a few days (his belly is then very very flat!) and even makes some seizures and then everything becomes as usual once again and so on...

What do you think of it?

Hello ,

If your child is showing a cycle of the bloating, diarrhea, seizures, I would

maybe consider parasites. I watched a presentation a while back (sorry I can't

find the notes right now) and there are some parasites beyond pinworms that are

very bad to have and may cause these sorts of symptoms. This is something that

any doctor should be able to help you with. Don't talk about the autism--focus

only on the symptoms. Especially with the seizures any doctor should

investigate very thoroughly. I would make this my number one priority.

If parasites are the problem, and are treated effectively, you may see a whole

bunch of improvements.

As for biomedical treatments for the symptoms of autism, it helps to know more

about a child, but to tell you the truth, if it were my child, I would pursue

only the parasite theory now, and then wait to see what came of that.

Effective parasite treatment, speaking in terms of autism treatments, is

relatively fast.

I just had a quick look around and saw that these three parasites Entamoeba

histolytica, giardia lamblia, and Cryptosporidium can all cause diarrhea and

gas. You can get info on these to see if anything seems to resemble your son.

Of course, all parasitic infections are more likely and more likely to last in

kids with low stomach acid, kids who stick a lot in their mouths, and kids with

poor immune systems. This would describe a lot of kids I know with autism.

The fact that his symptoms worsen on a monthly cycle makes me wonder if that is

not another sign of parasites. Don't they react somehow when it's a full moon?

I'm sure Anju Usman told me that.
