Subject: Hi Ya - re: liver friendly rx's and stuffTo: hepatitiscsupportgroupfordummies Date: Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 9:56 PM

I'm 7 1/2 years from transplant chronic hcv liver disease but liver is doing damn good considering it all mainly from having an excellent donor 17 years old in excellent health. I still need to be on 2 high dose anti-rejection meds yep causing their own slough of complications and a gaggle of other rx's from many other specialists for related and unrelated hcv liver disease conditions symptoms dx's.

I'm just a very abby normal medical breathing miracle.

My Hep Dr acts as my primary care Dr coordinating all my medical care - tx's and rx's with the OK from him to all other Dr's first and by judging by my monthly full labs and especially state of liver by full liver panels.

It is impossible and for me for us to have all liver friendly rx's. Some not as liver friendly are medically needed for treating other some severe medical dx's symptoms complications and for better quality of lives. For me we try to use the most liver friendly rx's and making sure all my rx's combined can be taken together and me

watched very closely by full monthly labs.

People fear more liver damage even if in early liver stages cleared from tx's or not which if normal and natural by taking rx's and not from their Hep Dr's or still under their care.

I take a handful of rx's 3 times a day a few not fully liver friendly still doing fine and my liver.

It is on an individual person pt's basics with total medical dx's liver disease stage and types of rx's they take the combo that can be taken together if liver friendly enough for them and at that time.

It can come down to not as liver friendly but essential a medically necessity for us and survival medically playing it by ear monitoring us as we take those rx's.

The problems comes in when we are not under the total care or our Hepatologist or not being treated by a Hepatologist acting as our primary Dr's consulted and ok'ing all our other health care by all Dr's and knowing rx's - tx's - surgeries - even simple over the counter stuff etc....... that could be harmful to us the combo we take and stage of liver disease or cause progression of our liver disease from hcv and other related dx's and complications.

Or our primary Dr not familiar enough with total hcv liver disease and care and coordinating ok'ing all rx's from all dr's.

2 simple over the counter tylenol products per day or a tylenol based rx and us taking tylenol can cause liver damage even liver failure. Some vitamins - herbs in high doses vit A too. Tylenol and vit A many others too in high doses is toxic to a healthy liver liver failure in non-hcv people and lesser doses can also cause so severe liver damage too for us.

Thanks for asking for it. It will probably help many other members if they read it. I always wonder how many messages members do read - all messages - INFO: posts - message replies not to them and understand it know that it can help or inform them very much too and why we share explain so much in replies to members even with knowing that member knows some of it already to inform all members.

I know I get a roll going ramble on and on but can't help it. That's just me.

All The Best

Happy Holiday's

Deb
