Oh, sorry Margaret, I can see that I was ambiguous about what the problem was, the pain was indeed due to decay rather than teething.  He had 3 cavities in his molars and he was insistent that it was his ear that hurt.  The dentist said that this referred pain is quite common.

Darla

So with his age it could be tooth decay, rather than teething, maybe?

June. Its been a wild 3 years with puberty kicking in... I am sure everyone has

there own experience.... The past few days , well 7 days , he started to get

very agressive with himself and start hitting the side of his ear... started the

pain killers, calpol, and nurofen... he would calm for the time the pain killers

were working but go mad again, he goes through the day on regular intervals

holding the ear gently , it always seems to be red in colour due to the touching

of it, or hotting it...... He wouldnt allow the Dr to look into the ear, and so

we started the antibiotic.... after 4 days it does seem better but he still is

bothered by the same ear.How can this be, could it be wax, or a sensory thing

that is making him get annoyed or could it be that he is
