Guest guest
Maybe she's just having flares? How do these days of pain coincide with her injection days? When I used the 50 mg once-weekly Enbrel, I found that it didn't seem to last the full week. As for injection site reactions sometimes, I am the same way. I used Enbrel for quite a time before I had the first reaction, but periodically I get them. Mine are mild, about like a mosquito bite. My rheumy didn't have an explanation for why I get a reaction once in a while. She does let the Enbrel warm up a bit before injecting, doesn't she? Guest guest
Your mother's flare could have been caused by the increased exercise or the reduction of the medrol-or a combination of both and sometimes we flare for no reason at all. Exercise is important but if she has not exercised in a while she probably needs to go very slow and increase her activity gradually. When we get to feeling better most of us have a tendency to overdo. Also since she has not had a reaction before I would be interested in knowing if maybe this was a newly refilled RX of enbrel. I had one refill that seemed to itch a little and have not had that happen before and also for the 8 shots I had in that refill they did not seem to be as effective. I wondered maybe if at some point they had not been kept cold or if there was something a little different about that refill???? With the next batch everthing was back as before-no itching and better effectiveness. nynypa <nynypa@...> wrote: In the middle of May, my 78-year-old Mother added Enbrel to her regimen of MTX and Medrol to treat her RA. Until about 3 weeks ago, it was working wonderfully. She was mercifully free of pain. About a month ago, she was able to begin a water exercise program and had, most importantly, been able to lower her dose of Medrol to 2 mg/day. She has been on Medrol for a year at varying doses. Sadly, within the past 3 weeks, she has begun to have joint pain - two days of intense joint pain, then reduction of pain for a couple of days, and then another 2-3- day flair. I wonder if perhaps Enbrel is losing its effectiveness for her. Another oddity, she had not had any injection site reactions until two weeks ago, and has now had them with both of her last two injections. Does this scenario sound familiar to anyone else, and, if so, what's the next step? --------------------------------- All-new - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster. --------------------------------- Talk is cheap.
