Speak to your surgeon as soon as possible

maybe have him look at the patch and make the decision about

the surgery and good luck

Jane, I had shingles on my face in 1977. I thought I had poison ivy!

It really looked like chicken pox blisters, only smaller and closer

together. My sister had it last year, and they gave her an anti-viral

which cleared it up quickly. My doctor also gave me an anti-viral

before I had LASIK, because I had had shingles so close to my eye.

Would be worth it to get it checked out, the sooner you get the

anti-viral the more effective it is.

Shingles are no fun. The information link that put on the site was

excellent information. Especially the picture, I get them on my hip and once

at

the base of my spine. I always seem to get a fever blister as well on my

mouth.....But they are always on one side only. The last time I had them I had

to use a Duragesic Patch to deal with the pain. I seem to get them when I

have been in the sun a lot or under a degree of stress. I wish I could say

there is something easy to make them go away because to me they almost send me

to my knees. have taken the antiviral medication and used the ointments,

they do help in a day or two. I am sorry you have them.

Gentle Hugs & prayers,

Carol M. in CA

I've had shingles and it was minor - a small patch under my arm. I only

noticed it when I was in front of a mirror and lifted my arm - it never

really caused me any pain or itching. I was also put on a prescription and

it cleared up quickly with no lasting effects. Within 3 months, 2 of my

friends also had it. They say it's not contagious, but I'm not convinced.
