Guest guest
Hi Alison,I don’t want to pre-empt Dr. Goyal’s advice regarding bloodtests but just want to let you know that it is possible to have blood tests done in Manchester at Pall Mall Medical Clinic (http://www.pallmallmedical.co.uk). They also use The Doctor’s Laboratory (Manchester branch) which Breakspear uses. We got in touch with them on the recommendation of Breakspear. Make sure you get confirmation of the cost before you arrive though! It’s good to hear that Dr. Goyal’s first northern clinic is almost up and running now!Good luck!Adrienne Carlisle From: Autism-Biomedical-Europe [mailto:Autism-Biomedical-Europe ] On Behalf Of josephrabbit2000Sent: 17 April 2012 13:06To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Subject: Dr G clinic - manchester We received a call to day Dr G will be seeing us in one of his new clinics rather than the Breakspear in a few weeks. The nearest clinic for us is Manchester but I know we will need bloodtests. Does anyone know of the testing arrangements at the new clinics. I don't want to go here then have to have tests done on a different day a long way away. We don't have any where local we could do the tests. When the appt was made the PA wasn't sure about tests at the Manchester clinic but did say there was another family in the same situation and that she would try and find out where they were going.Alison R
Guest guest
Thanks so much for this info Adrienne.I have phoned them and they would require 1/2 hr appt for each child with a Dr in order to do the bloodtests which is £100 each. At first I thought no way because of cost but then discussing it further I think we should be re-assured that they are planning for the child, ensuring they have enough staff and that enough time is allowed. We would have to book in an have more info from requesting Dr so won't be able to do it on same day. Not sure if this would be easier or easier to just go to Breaksprear. Either way its 2 separate days off work for my husband.I'll see what Dr G recommends. NHS have so much to answer for - these tests should be available anyway!!! (rant over)! Once again thanks for this info - I can see us using this service. Have you used themt?Alison R Hi Alison,I don’t want to pre-empt Dr. Goyal’s advice regarding bloodtests but just want to let you know that it is possible to have blood tests done in Manchester at Pall Mall Medical Clinic (http://www.pallmallmedical.co.uk). Guest guest
Hi Alison,Not sure why an additional appointment with a doctor will help before the blood test when you would have been advised by Dr. G to do the requisite blood tests. I used to do blood tests for my son at TDL (The Doctors Laboratory) as there was no nursing staff available in Breakspear for collecting blood samples on Saturday. As most of the blood tests in Breakspear are done at TDL, it made sense for me to go to TDL directly though recently TDL started charging extra for their nursing staff when samples were collected on their premisesIt would be good to know price comparisons for the blood/urine/stool tests done at Breakspear against other labs as it seems to me that Dr. G moving away from Breakspear may not help parents economically for whom Breakspear was within easy reach though having clinics in multiple cities might help others to have appointments with Dr. G but conducting tests might be a nightmare.VarunTo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: rowbotham.alison@...Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2012 10:39:37 +0100Subject: Re: Dr G clinic - manchester Thanks so much for this info Adrienne.I have phoned them and they would require 1/2 hr appt for each child with a Dr in order to do the bloodtests which is £100 each. Guest guest
just wanted to say that we do our blood tests at our local nhs clinic. we buy the kits from the labs and draw here no probs. they also spin or stand tests of course as needed. we did have local community nurse coming to the house when eddie was housebound, now we go to outpatient at local hospital and they call the relevant person up to eddie. then on the way home i visit the post office to send them to the labs. karenza > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Alison,I don't want to pre-empt Dr. Goyal's advice regarding bloodtests but just want to let you know that it is possible to have blood tests done in Manchester at Pall Mall Medical Clinic (http://www.pallmallmedical.co.uk).
