Guest guest
Don't do it if you are uneasy, this article is talking EDTA chelation for heart disease mostly and about IV's. What makes you uneasy about AC chelation Mandi We are preparing to start AC chelation for our 12 yr old son. I am still a little uneasy about the whole thing and have been sent this article. I would appreciate any comments on the concerns and criticisms it raises:http://drlwilson.com/ARTICLES/CHELATION.htmthank youCharlotte
Guest guest
Hi Charlotte I would do lots of research yourself till you find a chelation method you are happy with. I tried AC chelation on myself doing 5 rounds of DMSA over 7 weeks. I became acutely ill with severe neutropenia, extreme fatigue, widespread bruising, joint swelling and widespread inflammation. Based on my reaction I would be wary of trying it on my autistic daughter. I then tried with 5 mg ALA and the I'll effects were even worse with vein swelling and bruising. God knows how I would be if I had followed a dan protacol.I believe I must be allergic to mercury as well as mercury toxic. I am now arranging to see Dr Pouria at the Burgwood clinic in Surrey. I don't know if anyone else has tried this clinic as an alternative to the Breakspear? I think they use phospholipid exchange to get rid of metals and specialise in metal sensitive people. Also Dr Amet at the Edinburgh treatment trust says they have been getting good results with phospholipid exchange, for chelation. It's another method to investigate.Anyone tried it.? Having said all of that most folks on this forum do AC chelation with good results and very few reports of severe side effects other than neutropenia which DMSA can cause in some people. My experience has made me wary of trying chelation other than under close medical supervision. Hope I haven,t made things even more complicated for you. Best wishes Kath Sent from my iPad

Guest guest
Charlotte, This article doesn't make sense in many different ways. For one thing, the main premise of the article, has not proven effective with the vast majority of kids I know who benefited from AC chelation. Loads of those kids were on very good diets, which helped obviously, but not in any way like chelation. Saying that chelation stops mental and spiritural developement, as is his #1 points, just seems demented to me. I know loads of kids whose development only really started with chelation. I could address a lot more, but this guy also highly recommends coffee enemas, which I'm not sure is a very appropriate treatment for anyone, let alone kids with ASD. However, people should be investigating all interventions thoroughly, and chelation is certainly something I don't think people should rush into poorly informed. Guest guest
Thank you for your replies. The issue is that I do research everything but I don't have the brain for science and so ultimately i am depending on the views and experience of others plus my own gut feeling. For my son I fear that he has a significant yeast problem and I'm pretty sure mercury is a problem here too so AC does sound very promising. Other Biomed we have tried has given us a calmer happier child who we can 'live with' and has helped us get his allergies under control but still present. He is also really really thin although he is not a picky eater and eats loads. In terms of his learning/understanding/thinking we don't seem to have made any significant progress. Yes he does make progress in his learning but I mean he is not any less autistic in his mental processing. chelation goes against the grain as it is more of an allopathic approach and I tend to go for natural and holistic therapies. I'm concerned it's just another false hope and/or will cause damage or side effects. But I keep hearing that nothing but AC will remove mercury from the brain and nothing else i read about chelation addresses this so I have no alternative opinion to contrast it with. I have many other thoughts, questions and controversies with what I read about chelation but I won't list them all now. Since he's 12 there's also the feeling that time is running on... So I guess the only thing to decide the matter would be to give it a trial which is what we hope to do. But then i read something like this and doubts set in... Anita, what's wrong with coffee enemas? DrNCM is very keen on them and they get a lot of mention on the GAPs group, I haven't tried them myself and not looked into whether they are recommended for children. What about FIR saunas? thanks all for your thoughts Charlotte > > > > We are preparing to start AC chelation for our 12 yr old son. Guest guest
Hi Charlotte, IMO, almost everyone is depending on the views and experiences of otheres, plus their gut feeling. I know for myself, even though I have researched chelation thoroughly, there is no way I can grasp the science sufficiently to say with certainty that I KNOW how lipoic acid crosses the BBB, grabs the mercury, effects the rest of the body, etc etc. These things happening are not facts, but more as you say the accumulated experience of many people together with my belief that what I do understand of teh science prensented to me makes sense. So, I hope people don't feel like I'm insulting anyone, but I suspect that your approach to decision making is pretty close to what we are all doing, including the vast majority of practitioners. Anyway, coffee enemas: I know that in theory they are supposed to help with detox by stimulating the liver, but there isn't enough proof for me to believe it. Yes, an enema that gives you a big boost of caffiene will very likely make people feel great for teh next little bit, esp if they get rid of a bunch of feces at the same time. But is that helping the liver? Not in my opinion. If I want to help my kid's liver, I will go with something less invasive and more supported by the literature like using phosphatidylcholine and/or milk thistle. Sauna can remove mercury and other toxins, that's for sure. The problem is the brain though. Our body doesn't seem to have a 'natural' way to get Hg out of the brain. It has loads of systems for keeping it out of there, but I'm guessing that evolution didn't anticipate us putting Hg in our mouths or shooting it directly into our bloodstreams. Even breathing it wasn't accounted for. In our past, we ate mercury, drank a bit, and that was it. So, as far as our nature goes, that is how our bodies can cope. The fact that we've circumvented our natural interactions with Hg means, IMO, that we pretty much have to go a route that doesn't depend on nature to remove it. Having said that though, lipoic acid is very natural to our bodies and I feel comfortable using it. Anita > > > > > > We are preparing to start AC chelation for our 12 yr old son.
