Guest guest
I'm sorry you are not feeling good - I really hope it gets easier for you. Hang in there > > I am not feeling well, nauseated. I took some meds for nausea, but then I got a patch to try tomorrow. The doc said to stop taking vitamins. But then I thought that maybe it could be Fossimax. Does anyone take fossimax? If so are you continuing while on treatment? I am having a hard time working. Have only been to the gym once, two days after I started treatment. I have not been feeling well and mostly have stayed in bed. Today was a better day and I just took the Ribvarin and am not nauseated right now. Please tell me it will get better! I have a cough and fever too. > Hoku >
Guest guest
Hi Hoku, Sorry you aren't feeling well. I'm not familiar with Fossimax. I had to stop working and stop doing my dog training. For nausea my doctor prescribed Zofran and I have used that throughout my treatment, I have the 48 week version. I am genotype 1b stage 1 as determined by a liver biopsy. Guest guest
Hoku ~~ I had a lot of problem with nausea on tx. I had to do several things to help treat it. I used a lot of ginger products (like gingerale, Crystalized Ginger candy -- from the health food store, and ginger root). Also I had to try three different medications for nausea until I found one that worked. I first tried Zofram, then Phergan, and finally the Compazine worked. Different medication work differently for different people and have to be considered what you are already taking and your own medical condition. I would have to take the nausea medication a couple of hours before taking the ribavirin so that it would help more. I found that the ribavirin is what made me nauseous. I was also told by the hepatitis doc to not eat any fatty foods 4 hours before and 4 hours after taking the ribavirin or the effects of the ribavirin would be worse. I also had to eat every two hours and that seemed to help. Also, as others have said it is important to drink a gallon of liquids (water, juice, crystal light) a day and that will help reduce all the side effects of tx. Maybe some of these tips will be of help to you. Nauseousness can really effect how you feel greatly. Also, I spent a lot of time laying on the couch and in best during tx. I just didn't feel good to do much else. Maybe this will get better for you as you come up with solutions for the side effects. Guest guest
I got a cough within the first three wks of treatment and my riboveron was reduced cause my white count was going down to fast..Each person is different when it comes to treatment. With your genotype you only have six months of treatment,I had to do 52wks and I was sick the whole time. Are you drinking the gallon of water each day like your supposed to? that reduces your sides a lot by getting those liquids in.
