Regression from probiotics?

Hi all, My son (4) has an autism diagnosis and I suspect he also has PANDAS/PANS. He's been on Acyclovir and fluconazol since December. We had a good couple of months after starting the antivirals with progress especially with gross motor and awareness. He also started using some more speech (he's only had little speech since his regression 1,5 years back). Then something happened and he started drooling, having more OCD, temper tantrums and was even limping at times. The speech regressed and became really grunting. He was put on two short courses of antibiotics, and the limping went away but the other symptoms mainly remained. I went through my notes and noticed that I'd put my son on Custom probiotics (D-lactate free) shortly before the

regression. I started the probiotics with only half a baby spoon (maybe 10 B CFU) a day and built it up to 25 and then 50 a day. The regression started one-two weeks after starting the probiotics. When there seemed to be no change for the better (regression had lasted over 6 weeks) I dropped the probiotics. This was a few days ago now, and he stopped the drooling a couple of days ago now. He's also talking a little more again. So... I've heard that probiotics with a strep strain can have a negative effect on PANDAS kids, but what about other probiotics? If they can cause a regression, then WHY does it happen? Surely die off should not last this long? We've seen drooling and limping once before, and that was at the time our son regressed in the first place. He was on no supplements/medications then. Right now he's GF/CF and on a few supplements. I would appreciate any help

with figuring out what's going on. Should I stay away from all probiotics in the future? I'm really scared to start any for the time being... Thanks for any help! N

probiotics are immunomodulators so it is entirely possible that he is

reacting to them in a negative way. Same here - we have never found one

that works well for us, never stayed on one for more than a few days -

that is after we would notice him sliding backwords and stop..

my advice to stop them asap, maybe retry a different one later on but

watch carefully.
