Guest guest
Joyce, I was dx about 3 years ago. The rheumy seems to think I have had it a long time. I had a doctor that told me I had arthritis, but didn't explain what kind. I was young, and didn't know anything. He would give me all sorts of meds. You have had it a long time:( That is really cool that you went into remission for four years, I have heard of that. What type of meds were you on at the time? What are you taking now? You will enjoy it here, so glad your with us. Hugs, Tawny > > Hi All > > I have just joined this group today > > I am 57 years old. Guest guest
Tawny I was only on antinflamitory tablets at the time.. I still just take Naproxen and painkillers and I am on and off steroids. My choice cos I dont like to take them for to long a time. Did you see a rheumy when you were first told you had arthritis.? I didnt .It was a few years before my doc sent me to see one.. I have tried all the new meds that are out now for RA but I didnt get anywhere with them .I think I got my RA to early ...lol All these meds were not avaiable when I first got it. Yes it was great being in remission for so long. Then I had a hysterectomy and it came back with a vengence after that...lol Looking back in your life do you think you had it longer than you knew about. Guest guest
Joyce, Yes, now I see that I had it long ago. I struggled for years with pain. I always blamed it on old injuries. I didn't go to a rheumy until about three years ago. Like most, I didn't understand, " arthritis. " I am sorry that the remission didn't last, but glad you got four years without the horrible pain. I can't take anti-inflammatory meds at all, they make me so sick at my stomach. I have tried all of them. I am taking Plaquenil/Methotrexate, Loratab, Flexeril. I take Prozac for depression, and use Lidoderm patch for my back problems. The Plaquenil/mtx combo seems to be working well for me now. You are right, there are so many more meds now. I heard there is another new one coming out, I hope that will be a good one. All we can do is just take each day, and do the best we can. It's not an easy path, but slowly we can get to where were going. Hugs, Tawny > > Hi Joyce, > > Welcome to the group! Oh, and lower the Lortab. So, not sure what's next, > Tawny That sure doesn't seem right to me. Take you off ALL RA meds AND lower your pain meds? Isn't is dangerous to go off RA meds anyway because damage could occur? Besides, why on earth would you " stay off " them? Maybe you could go back in earlier and say you're really bad and that you need *something*... Good luck...
