We are thrilled to start tx and hoping for the best and to clear. That is not the case for many of us. Tx meds are very powerful toxic forms of meds. One of the many Warnings is worsening of HCV - liver and stage and grade. I can explain my experiences but it is my own medical case and tx - sides - complications - results are different for each of us and our own individual medical case and medical problems - diagnoses. I was diagnosed with HCV geno 1a in late stage 3 liver damage well established HCV for many decades. I knew my risk factors but decided to try tx anyway and not regret not doing it later. My Hep Dr watched me closely and would pull me off tx if any severe complications from it. I did have the warning complication was thrown into a more faster aggressive HCV viral load spiked and so did my complications and advanced into stage 4 cirrhosis stages. I was quickly pulled off tx and watched closely for advancing cirrhosis stages. My Hep Dr was part of my Transplant Team and we listed me for transplant when I needed to be in esld - end stage liver disease. I received my transplant 3-4-01 failed responder Pegasys after transplant but still going strong and so is new liver. I don't know your stage/grade now. Don't know what type of specialist you see now or had you on tx or a Hepatologist part of a Transplant Team. A referral for full eval work-up usually by a Hepatologist 1st part of a Transplant Team will give you a full complete eval exam head to toe very highly medically skilled team and just take it from there. They may offer you good news suggestions. Cirrhosis has many stages also ESLD and it is NOT as fast as progressive for most people as they are fearing and for the worst. Even in late cirrhosis stages and ESLD a person can stabilize have long periods of not progressing as fast a type of slow down and doing well for long periods of time. There are rx's and procedures to help with the complications all the way through ESLD to transplant. Keep us updated about you. Hang In There !!!!!!!!!!!!
