Guest guest
Hi all, I am on Humira and MTX and have been for over a year now. I just had a Pneumovax. Did you have one? I am curious because with all the lung problems and pneumonia, I assume you have had this vaccine. My GP felt it was critical that I have it. So far so good as far as lung infections, but I do have a cold right now and I am supposed to take my Humira Monday so I am guessing that I should call the doctor before the shot right? I just have fatigue, stuffy nose, kind of a sore throat and sometimes a little wheeze when I expire. Any advice is appreciated. Guest guest
Tracie, I always stop my Enbrel when I have a cold, just to be on the safe side. I haven't had to stop it because of a cold all winter, knock on wood, so I'm really glad about that. Guest guest
TRacierae, I would check with your rheummy. Most docs do not want you take Humira or MTX if there are signs of possible infection going on. I would call and check with rheummy first. Also I would make sure your rheummy Oks all vaccines before hand. GP are great for just that...general problems....but your rheummy can determine based on a bloodwork, exam and such if its a good time for you to get the vaccine. My daughter has gotten it Pneumovax since she was a baby with her sickle cell anemia. she has also gotten meningitis vaccine as well. I think its a good thing. I personally have not gotten it but will ask my PCP when I go in.
