Guest guest
H is so keen on his SCD-compliant goat's yogurt that I wonder whether he may now have a problem with it. He wants it at every meal, which means he is now clearing 4 litres a week. He has it with fruit (usually) and honey (always). So I should like to try him off it for a couple of weeks to see what happens. I know some clever people have made it with other substances than dairy or soya milk, but I don't know what to use. Please could someone suggest what to do? It needs to be acceptable in taste and reasonably creamy and thick. I have been using CP1 as the culture. Thanks, Margaret
Guest guest
Hi MargaretI can't help with alternative types of yoghurt, unfortunately, but I remember a few years ago that my son's food cravings went through the roof when I started giving him honey, and just wondered whether this could possibly be at the root of H's problem with the yoghurt? Have you tried giving him the yoghurt without the honey for a couple of weeks to see how he reacts?Joanne >> H is so keen on his SCD-compliant goat's yogurt that I wonder whether he may now have a problem with it. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, What about nut milks? I did a quick google and found this almond one, which does have both agar-agar and arrowroot as thickeners so might not suit. There may be others which are better recipes. You have inspired me to look. http://www.lexieskitchen.com/lexies_kitchen/2011/9/14/almond-milk-yogurt-dairy-free.html Patience To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Sent: Saturday, 19 May 2012, 22:16Subject: Re: Non-dairy, non-soya home made yogurt Hi Margaret I can't help with alternative types of yoghurt, unfortunately, but I remember a few years ago that my son's food cravings went through the roof when I started giving him honey, and just wondered whether this could possibly be at the root of H's problem with the yoghurt?
