Guest guest
actually, this is the kind of thing I would use calloidal silver for. I have had conjunctivitis in the past and the CS clears up eye infections in about two hours. Guest guest
Hi Gail, that is funny you mentioned the new eye drops. My eyes have been so dry, especially with the heat on now. I have actually developed a clogged eye gland.(gross) The Dr. gave me oral antibiotics for one week, if that fails he will lance it. I forgot to mention, I think this is kinda funny. You know how no one wants our hep c blood. My Dr. actually paid for mine to use in research ... I thought that was so funny considering.. I am on week 29 and feeling the best I ever has since on treatment. I actually stay awake the whole day, even after shot night. I am assuming I have reached the point where the side effects have lessened. Anyway I am very happy to be feeling so good, And I wanted to share this good news with the group. Guest guest
For those on treatment, dry eyes can be a real problem. Guest guest
thanks for the info. In my case, I am not taking treatment. There is so much to learn. > > Allergan has come out with a new eye drop- Refresh Endura. Guest guest
Donna, very glad your treatment is going so well! Treatment often causes dry eyes and mouth. My dentist is charging me plenty for the cavities and crud treatment left me with due to insufficient saliva. Hep and treatment both can cause dry eyes. Glad to see there's some drops out there that work. Alley > Hi Gail, that is funny you mentioned the new eye drops. My eyes have been so > dry, especially with the heat on now. Guest guest
Sorry for the delay in answering. The dry eyes that heppers get is another one of the pesky immune symptoms we develop. The immune system attacks the tear glands (and other mucous producing glands). Could be the virus is in those glands, the tissues of those glands have similar proteins to the virus, probably both-anyway our system mistakenly attacks those glands in trying to clear up the virus. The tear/salivary glands get inflammed, clogged, and infected, or just inflammed and don't work as well as they should. Treatment makes this worse. I never noticed the dry eyes until my last round of treatment, when it flared up and never has gone away. I also had to have an infected salivary gland removed. Actually it had healed but in healing, turned into this big wad of scar tissue that stuck out and I kept biting it accidentally-talk about hurt! The proper name for the dry eye is Sjogrens, pronounced show-grins. gail From: " " <douglas6156@...> Reply-Hepatitis C Date: Fri, 06 Dec 2002 09:21:58 -0000 Hepatitis C Subject: Re: Dry eye how would these eye drops relate to hepatitis? is there some connection? > Allergan has come out with a new eye drop- Refresh Endura. Guest guest
I have had dry eye for many years, both eyes. My opthamologist says it's a hormonal thing. I've tried all kinds of drops and night ointments, which help temporarily, but as soon as I stop, the dry eye is back again. I look like I'm crying most of the time. It's difficult to see at times, I have to keep blotting my eyes to read. As an added bonus the past couple years I also have chronic pinkeye. My opthamologist says it's because the eye does not produce enough natural tears to wash bacteria away, so the pink eye bacteria thrive in that environment. I am now using some very expensive Rx eye drops twice a day, Restassis, which seem to help some with the dry eye part, but this past week my eyes have been crusted shut when I wake in the morning, which I assume is pink eye again! My opthamologist says Restassis is actually " estrogen for the eyes. " I don't know if he's joking or it really contains estrogen. Sometimes I get a very sharp pain which feels like it's going through my eyeball. It's not a lasting thing. The opthamologist says is from the lack of inner lid moisture and the eyeball sticks to the lids occasionally, causing the pain. anyone else ever get that explanation? I'm curious to see if my upcoming low dose, long term alternate antibiotic therapy for Polymyalagia Rheumatica which I'm going to try, starting next week, will knock out the pink eye bacteria too. that would be great if it does. Guest guest
I don't know if it is true or not but I read that they think Restassis actually helps in healing the eyes. I am not sure about this though, just something I saw. When I had the last eye surgery, the pressure in my eye went up. The doctor said he was going to " burp my eye " . He put two needles in my eye to get the pressure down. Ever since then I have had the dry eye problem. Not sure if it is related or not but it does seem strange that after that I would have this. Hope things get better for you. Lynn -------------- Original message -------------- From: Bev Hannon <bahannon@...> I have had dry eye for many years, both eyes. Guest guest
Congrats on "doing" that shot,, yes honey, they will get easier as the time rolls along! As far as the dry eyes, I think its part of tx as so many ppl get them.. Get some 'natural' tears, something that doesnt have preservatives in them and use as often as you need them. That should help... you can find theratears or another product that doesnt have preservatives at any drug store or you can drop by any vision center and get them. What you DONT want to use is something like Visine as it is chock full of preservatives and that type of drop is not designed for daily use and more... Good luck hon and YOU ARE DOING GREAT! jax ps, Merry Christmas hon!Checkers2001 <simplicity53@...> wrote: Hi everyone! Hope the joy and light of the season is touching everyone's lives :-).I'm in my third week now (can hardly believe it!). I think my shot went well Thursday - I even think I saw the bubbles when I did the tapping. I still have to psych myself up to do the jab - but it is certainly getting easier. I've noticed that one of my eyes starts feeling dry every once in awhile - especially after shot night. I did try try some dry eyes drops (hope that's okay). Any thoughts on this? Should I be concerned? hugs, karenJackie
