Guest guest
I have Sjogrens Syndrome, so my eyes, nose, and mouth. I'm drinking lots of water, chewing sugarless gum, and putting Visine Tears in my eyes. It does make them feel better. Maybe you can try that. I hope it works. Guest guest
Hi Dennis, I have been using the visine. It does make my eyes feel better. I just don't know how this happened. I was fine had the surgery and now this problem. Thank you for your suggestions. Lynn --------- [ ] dry eye OT > Does anyone know anything or have dry eye. I have it and it is just a > pain. Guest guest
Lynn: My doctor recommended Refresh LiquiTears and/or Refresh LiquiGel. I did not have any surgery - I have Sjogrens Syndrome, like Dennis. But the Refresh stuff works wonders! The Gel is for moderate to severe dry eye. I've gotten to the point where that's the only one that works for me, but you can try the Tears first and then move to the heavier gel if you need it. Hope this helps! in Texas lindacaimi@... wrote: Hi Dennis, I have been using the visine. It does make my eyes feel better. I just don't know how this happened. Guest guest
Thanks , that is what I have been doing. Do you have to use the drops a lot during the day. Some days it is not to bad and I don't use them to often. Other days it is just worse. I am going to see an eye doctor who works with people with Ra. My Rheumy recommended I do this and I thought it was a good idea. I have used the Refresh. I am all about coupons and use them all the times. I happen to live in a area where we have double and triple coupons all the time. It is how I shop and do very well with it. Anyway I had a lot of coupons of different eye drops and have been using them. I got them all free so I am trying to see what is the best. So far it is the refresh. Again thanks it is a help, Lynn --------- [ ] dry eye OT > Does anyone know anything or have dry eye. I have it and it is just a > pain. I only have it in one eye. Guest guest
Lynn: You're welcome. I've lost enough of my tear film now that the LiquiTears isn't thick enough to give me any relief. The LiquiGel is the only one that really makes my eyes feel better. Some days are better than others. On good days, I may not use it at all and on bad days, I may use the drops several times. I had to quit wearing contacts all together and just wear my glasses. I wear a night mask over my eyes while sleeping so the ceiling fan doesn't blow into my slightly open, sleeping eyes all night. I was diagnosed with RA, Fibro & Sjogren's a little over a year ago. Because I take Plaquenil (anti-malarial drug) as part of my RA regimen AND because of the Sjogren's, I have regular checkups with my optometrist. I recently went in and my doctor told me that I've lost a significant amount of my tear film. He then suggested an interesting help...he is going to insert tiny plastic " T's " at the bottom of my tear ducts to keep less of my tears from draining out which will help with the severe dry eye. I'd never heard of that before, but it's a simple and painless procedure done right in the office. Basically, doc said that when the dry eye gets so bad that I'm tired of putting drops in my eyes all day long, then that would be the time to do the procedure. You might ask your optometrist. Guest guest
Hi everyone: Before I was diagnosed with RA I was having a real bad time with dry eyes. I thought it was working the computer so long. I bought something called " Soothe Emollient Eye Drops " . I got them at Walgreens, but I'm sure they are everywhere. I found them to be the best. They seem kind of oily at first but after a few minutes, it is great and your vision seems clearer. Vicki
Guest guest
, forgive me for not getting back to you right away. Sometimes the week ends are busy for me. By Monday I crash. Thank you so much for all your help. I did buy the LiquiGel and it does last longer. The pharmacist told me to use the gels as they are proving to be much better. Like you some days are not bad at all, other days it is just awful. Five years ago I had to stop wearing contacts. It felt like they were rubbing my eyes. I guess it was the start of the dry eye. I have had RA for 10 years. I am going to ask about the plastic T's. Again thank you so much for your help. Lynn --------- [ ] dry eye OT > Does anyone know anything or have dry eye. Guest guest
Vicki, I am going to give this Soothe Emollient Eye Drops a try. I have found out the gels are more soothing than the regular eye drops. The gels seem to last long. Guest guest
I use " nightime tears " . That is about the consistancy of vasoline and it makes my eyes blurry, like greasy eyes. They are, so not suitable for daytime. But they will last all night. Betty Vicki, I am going to give this Soothe Emollient Eye Drops a try. Guest guest
Hi Vicki, I am going to try them this week end. I have found out that if I put drops in my eyes during the night, they are better during the day. I wake up a lot at night so this is not a problem.
