I cut everything in half breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would fix my plate the way i would if i were going to eat all of it, but only eat have of everything that was on my plate, I did this even if we would go out to eat, needless to say i had to take home a doggie box every time but that would become my left over lunch for the next day, I didnt cut out my dessrts either, i did the same with them as well, cut it in half ate the next day. by doing it this way i felt like i was getting all the things i liked and not really feel like i was on a diet. i didnt realize at first that i was losing wieght, but then my cloths started to get lose and i had to start buying new cloths, couldnt get away from pop though but i did cut down on it too. Once i learned 1/2 portions i would set my plate up as 1/2 portions now i get full so fast im comfy with smaller portions. It takes alot of will power at first, which i didnt have any so it was hard at first but i stayed with it. I went form a size tight 20 jeans to a size 8, my starting wieght was 220 now i wiegh 125 it is doable just takes time. if you want to talk with me you can email me at my email address. I will help support you through it if you want me too. and if you wish i can give you my phone num. so we can talk in person if you are comfortable with that. just let me know. hugs brenda
Guest guest
Hi ; My heart goes out to you about your miscarriages. Losing a child, even early on in the pregnancy, is most traumatic. I hope you had and still have support from your friends and family.... and you have us here at to vent anay time you need to. I was never overweight but I had noticed that once I reached a certain weight, my knees were killing me. It took me about a year to slowly change my eating habits and lose 25 pounds. I feel so much better this way not to mention that I now look great in jeans! Take care of yourself. brenda <brendas4x4@...> wrote: > > So I was diagnosed in 2002 shortly after my 2nd miscarriage. Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, I know how difficult that must be. My son and daughter-in-law tried to get pregnant for over three years, then had a miscarriage. She was devastated. We had a family prayer service for the baby, and she put a small angel in a corner of her bedroom to remind her that her child was now an angel in heaven. She was put on Clomid, and gave birth to two beautiful girls about 18 months later; she had to give herself progesterone shots twice a week. She is pregnant again (no help this time!) and due in two weeks . . . used the progesterone again, and had no problems. She saw a fertility specialist who found out that her problem was low hormone levels. Perhaps a specialist could help you figure why you miscarry? As for the weight, I went on the South Beach diet and have lost 25 lb in the last 2 years. It's slow, but considering I'm on prednisone, my rheumy says I'm doing very well to lose any weight. The big thing for me is that you eat small amounts throughout the day, balancing carbs and protein, so your blood glucose level stays even and you're never really hungry. Protein and some carb for breakfast, carrots two hours later, protein and carbs for lunch, an apple or similar snack mid-afternoon, and protein for dinner. Lots of veggies all the time! The carbs are all what the book calls " good carbs " - whole grain, rice, etc. No empty carbs, or highly processed ones. And limited, but reasonable portions. As for exercise, I was told that exercising in the pool was easier on the joints, you might try that if you have somewhere you can go, like the YMCA. You have been having a really tough time, I'll keep you in my prayers. On 6/10/06, C <hrtswld@...> wrote: > So I was diagnosed in 2002 shortly after my 2nd miscarriage. Guest guest
I am curious for those of you who have lost weight or are trying, have you noticed an improvement in RA symptoms with the weight loss, or is it not relevant? Guest guest
I am feeling much better since the weight loss. Very seldom do I get swollen knees any more and if they do, it is not bad and goes away after a couple of days. But my flare-ups are definitely related to food sensitivities. If I cheat, I pay dearly. Guest guest
To answer your question. Yes, I had lapband weight loss surgery two years ago and it has made a world of difference. I had a none month remission immeidately after surgery and my symptoms are less than they were when I was heavier. I am also 70 lbs thinner and still have more too loose. So yes the change in diet, exercise and general lifestyle has made a difference for me. Guest guest
Good to know... thanks for sharing! It is more incentive for me to start losing weight, although it is quite a challenge with the terrible fatigue and my predominant pain is in my ankles, so I have to be careful how much/often I exercise or I pay for it. I think I will do as some other members have done, and start cutting back on what I eat. Portion control is a huge problem for me! UGH! Guest guest
How about starting by not munching between meals. That's how I did it. Good luck.
