Ionic zinc you can dose one drop at a time and he shouldn't notice in a drink of any sort, I like Metabolics

www.Metabolics.co.uk

Mx

My son has resisted every strategy we have tried to get him to try different foods/medication/supplementation over the years. I really need to address his issues around restricted diet and its consequences. Can anyone recommend any ways - ie not via his mouth - of getting supplements into him that could start to break though his absolute resistence. For instance I understand zinc can help stimulate appetite amongst other things. Is there any cream/oil/patch which could deliever zinc? As a last resort suppositories or drops might be possible. He doesn't eat any food/drink that we can hide stuff in.

Thanks

Thanks Mandy. Have ordered that.

Also looking for magnesium oil as my son has showers not baths so can't use epsom salts. I see I can get it on Amazon but has anyone got any experience/advice re its use or which brand to buy.

Thanks

Magnesium gel is better than oil for sensitive types I Have found, oil stings on me.

Or there is Lee Silsbys Magnesium sulphate cream (closer alternative to baths) which has lovely texture and no parabens :) MM keeps that in UK

I would not use this ever, AC says its poison, should never had made it into CBS, 10 kids using suppositories, 2 get better and JMcC decides to make it in to TD and voila we have a new craze, no no no.

And it and your child smells like the worst stink bomb you ever smelt in school, don;t want to put CLaires son off the TD as well as everything else

Much better to use Benfotiamine, safe and non smelly but oral

We've used the ionic mg and the lee silsby Mg sulphate cream - both good.  Also there is biocare magnesuim ascorbate powder - this si vitamin C in the form of mg ascorbate.  You would taste in water but not in juice.  There is a high dose in a tiny amount of powder and best results are when drank throughout day rather in one amount.

I know we have spoke about enzymes before and you don't think they are managable as need to be taken orally - just wanted to make sure you are aware that the houston ones which mandi can give you samples of are also in a chewie version much like a sweetie .

OR the amount of enzyme you would use form a capsule would be on the end of a cocktail stick to start with - again you would not tast this in food if you wanted to discuss this further I'm happy to talk with you .

I've not forgot about the mitochondrial stuff and sensory processing - I will find the info for you.Charlie's diet has become more and more self restricted despite his improvements in most other areas.  Dr G has suggested an organic acid test to make sure we are not missing overgrowth of some sort and also wants to do blood test for strep levels.  He feels this may be responsible for Charlie's stubborness.

Choose what the zinc and mg are a good starting place as all our kids are low in these.BWAlison R

Thanks Alison. We've started the zinc and magnesium. Re enzymes he won't put anything in his mouth at all - not even sweets, chocolate (with the exception of mars bars) etc so chewable option won't work at this stage. Also he doesn't eat any food you can mix stuff in - just eats chicken, steak, one brand of meatballs, one brand of beefburgers, fish with the batter taken off, toast with marmite. (Could you mix enzymes with marmite or butter?) It really is his mouth that is the real problem here. In spite of his sensitivities across the board he has been really co-operative during the currrent medical crisis with other forms of assessment/treatment - eg taking bloods, having his blood pressure taken, using a suppository, using a laser (having a go at acupuncture using laser rather than needles) etc etc. So anything that is possible by those routes is possible!

As I said in another e-mail think his current crisis is all autonomic nervous system related.
