[ ] In the Hospital again!

It's been almost exactly one month since I went into the hospital for Atrial

Fibrillation, and I just got back out again!! Wednesday evening, I carried a

folding table outside to be used for a garage sale this weekend. It was

about 60 feet total and I didn't think it hurt me, so I went back inside to

rest until bedtime. At about 10 PM we turned in, but I felt uncomfortable,

my heart was skipping and feeling funny and I had a headache. In about a

half hour, Betty called the ambulance and I rode to the hospital. I surely

didn't want to go, but I knew better. An EKG proved the A-Fib, so I was

moved to a room at 4 AM! I was the only one in the ER and still had to wait

for 5 hours.

By that time, my heart was back in sinus rhythm and I was ready for some

sleep. Of course, we all know that's impossible to do. This time I got a

Cardiologist and a complete workup, stress test and all. At first he was

expecting me to walk the treadmill, but when I refused, he didn't understand

why I couldn't, even though he had just written " Severe RA " in his notes. In

a few seconds he had this funny look on his face as he remembered. That

wasn't the only time he did it, either. " I don't look disabled " , he said

more than once. When I mentioned the scooter, he did the same thing. It was

getting funnier to me every time he did that, and he was becoming amused,

too, as he kept doing it.

The radiation pictures and stress test showed no problems at all, so we're

playing with meds. I just took my blood pressure and it was 125/70- 68 PPM.

It used to average 140/95- 100 PPM for at least 25 years, so this is a great

improvement just with meds for 2 days. I guess the real test will be when I

change the front tire on the trike, id I get enough energy to do it. You can

bet I'll be watching my heart closely. I was told that I'm lucky that I can

tell when I have A-Fib, and I guess that's right, it is hard to do. And, the

RA is supressed now, too. I wonder how long that will last....
