Guest guest
http://bit.ly/IKwtQg In this post I look at new research evidence that shows that autism is reversible in some cases. I'm saying that whatever the trigger for autism is (and it can be many things/combinations of things such as vaccines, infections, mercury from dental amalgam and other sources etc etc)the end result is the same - a disruption of the typical developmental pathway. Just expanding on what is in the blogpost a bit and making it more relevant for you guys with an interest in biomed, I think that for some children, addressing the trigger (biomedically treating whatever has tipped the child over into autism) is not enough to reverse the autism. I have no evidence for this other than an observation that biomed doesnt work for all children. Some kids seem to need more. I'm only talking here about kids without intellectual disability - which is not part of the autism but is a co-occuring condition that affects about 40% (I think) of people with autism. Because whatever triggers the autism starts an atypical developmental cascade (which is common to all children with autism) that profoundly affects their ability to develop higher level thinking competencies through interpersonal engagement, I'm saying in the blog that we need to address the developmental cascade through appropriate social communication interventions in order to help our kids. Have a read of the blog and see what you think - I'd be interested in your comments Zoe
