Guest guest
I have taken 5mg. of Prednisone each day since Fed. 2005. I have had such a bad time with my stomach from it, told my doc, she said for me to switch to taking it at nighttime before I go to bed...it helps my stomach feel so much better, I don't have that " sick " feeling all morning now, the downside is that it hard for me to get to sleep and stay asleep now, so I have to take a whole Tylenol PM ( for me that is a lot!), which barely gets me to sleep. has anyone else had this problem with Prednisone? By the way, my rheumy says this coming February I will be taken off the Prednisone but she warned me that pain will increase. I'll take the pain over the bloating anyday! Guest guest
HI ', I have taken prednisone for several years now, anywhere from 5 to 10mg's depending on my RA symptoms....My rheumy and pharmacist told me to make sure I eat when I take it as it can upset your stomach....I take mine in the morning with a small amount of food..one toasted pop tart... and never have had an upset stomach...My rheumy told me to not take mine at night, don't know why, just said better for you to take in the morning...As far as the prednisone puff..(bloat), When I first started I looked like a chipmunk or squirrel storing nuts...Over a short period of time the puff went away....Comes back when I do increase for a short time to get over a Flare...I sure hope you can adjust to prednisone....I know it is not good to take because of the side effects, but I swear it works for me....without it I don't think I could function....Good Luck, Hugs renee' kirby <dakirb1@...> wrote: I have taken 5mg. of Prednisone each day since Fed. 2005. Guest guest
Hi Dee, I don't have any brilliant suggestions, but I did want to reach out and give you a big hug. You sound very unhappy with yourself. I've gained 9 lbs recently and I know how that feels! The appetite thing is difficult. I don't take prednisone, but I seem to have a huge appetite with the menopausal roller coaster. Maybe you could find somewhere air-conditioned to exercise. I've been doing line dancing once a week and try to get out for walks in the evenings. So consider yourself hugged and try to stay positive about yourself. You're too good to be hiding away from the world. Sue xx > > Hi Everyone - - > Any suggestions to help with the dang weight gain and PUFFY look from the prednisone. I thought the dosage was small enough I'd maybe SKIP this part of the side effects but I hate myself right now - have become totally anti-social from the 15 pounds I have gained and I struggle every day right now. I love that it's made all my levels normal so I don't want to find a cause for complaint but I am just hating to get up every day right now because it's a constant struggle to gain control with my appetite. It's starting to get TOO hot to walk already - today it was 103 and by Sunday it will be a scorchy 112 degrees. I can't enjoy it anymore and so that also is my dilemna - once I stop the exercise I'm going to really balloon. Our dog has a black face and just HATES the heat even at 7 in the morning. Just wondered if anyone had similar problems and found a way to stabilize without depression sinking in. > Thanks you guys... > Hugs. > Dee > > > > >
