Hi,

We have done 4 rounds of DMSA only (high lead) and now want to add in the ALA.

Have read FA & W and attended TA conf last year where Andy spoke but still need

to ask my really basic question!

We have decided to keep things simple we will dose every 3 hours as per the ALA

schedule. We have been giving 5mg of DMSA every 4 hours so 30mg over 24 hours.

We will add in 5mg of ALA pere dose but obviously every 3 hours is 8 doses so my

question is to I divide the 30mg of DMSA into 8 doses rather than 6, or can I

keep it at 5mg of DMSA and 5mg of ALA and give both at 3 hour intervals

therefore getting 40mg of each a day?

I know we can do two 4 hour doses through the night but my completely addled

brain needs to be dosing the same time every day and if we do two 4 hours it

throws me out. Luckily he doesn't wake up and I fall back to sleep easily.

We have seen small but significant gains already - he is looking at himself

intently in the mirror and hasn't done this since a baby (he is now 3.5 yrs

old). Also marginally better eye contact. Definately more affectionate. He is

non verbal but has made a 'broom broom' sound for a car, a yum yum sound when

pretending to eat ( a wow on two accounts, pretending and a sound)and is trying

to say mum.

Wish I had started sooner, was just too nervous. Now I look forward to the

weekend as I feel we are doing something positive.

Thank you in advance
