HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NANCY!  Time flies, doesn't it?  I remember when your birth mother passed.  Hugs.  I just dislike saying the number  the older I get.  I dislike my parents' birthdays worse because I don't want them to ever leave me, so I can only imagine how you must feel.

Hoping the foot pain is kept at bay.  Be careful with the higher impact workouts though.  I would modify as much as possible for a few months, you can still get a good sweat without jumping, just sayin'.Hugs

Yes, today IS my birthday! 45 years and still kicking! I'll be kicking even more soon!

I had very little pain in my foot this past week, it got super aggravated when I went up and down the basement steps 8 billion times one day but that was it. I saw my podiatrist today and he adjusted my orthotics again and they're even more comfortable now. I just have to finish my anti-inflammatory med (2 pills left) and continue to wear my orthotics as often as possible for the next 3-4 weeks and then I can start wearing other shoes that don't work with them again. I am also going to try to get back into cardio workouts, including higher impact ones, next week and see how it goes. I don't have to see the footie doc again unless it flares again though so that is good (I like the doc but seeing him means all is not well).

It has been a tough day though, my birthday often is. Just missing too many people who I want to share it with but so thankful for all the people who are here and who remember. I got a call from my birth mother's husband tonight (she died a year ago this past October and I've been missing her a lot today). It was awesome, he played " Happy Birthday " to me on the piano and reminded me how much she loved me. I also got an email from her sister (my aunt) who I've been getting to know really well (she's in Florida unfortunately, we wish she lived here). I also got a text from two wonderful friends I used to work with who I haven't seen in too long and who I miss. So lots of good stuff. The kids & DH are doing something special for dinner for me tomorrow (I have no idea what). We couldn't tonight because Miriam had dance. We're also going out to dinner to celebrate with my dad & step-mother Sunday and DH's family either Saturday or next weekend. I guess I'd better get back to exercising soon, I'll need it!! I haven't gotten any presents yet but my dad will probably give me money and I swear I'm using some of it for me and not just for household stuff and bills like it always goes to. I have at least one Cathe video I want and I really want some 20 lb. dumbbells but am not sure I'll spring for them or not. Okay, I'm rambling. Gotta go to bed anyway. Tomorrow is my day off and I'm not doing anything important (except taking the kids to the orthodontist after school but I'd be invaded by then anyway so it is okay)! :-)

Thank you so much, for your so kind words. I know what you mean about your parents too (my dad, in great health, thankfully, just turned 80, it is hard to think that too, of course it freaks him out to think he has a daughter that just turned 45!).

I will keep your advice in mind about the jumping...n and apparently my foot will too... stupid foot was hurting this morning at 5, 1/2 hour before my alarm went off. DH woke up then too and I'm not sure if it was the foot or him that woke me up. I thought it was over but I should have known better when the doc said give it another month. oh well, will see what happens I guess. There has still been progress anyway and I don't think I'm going backwards.

Happy Birthday, . B-days certainly can be bittersweet, especially when we miss those who are no longer with us.. ((HUGS))

Glad the foot seems to be on track-

I will be 45 later this year - it seems so odd to stay that. Time flies, It took forever to get out of my 20's, 30's went by pretty fast, but the 40's are flying by - I feel like I just had my 40th b-day!Donna

hi nancy!! i just got this message, so please forgive me for

being late in wishing you a happy 45th birthday!!!

i am thrilled that your foot is doing so much better. wow, you

and michelle both really bounce back fast from injury... that is

awesome! ready to do high impact cardio already though? hmmm.

take care!

concerning clx, i didnt have 20 lb dumbells when i did it either

(6 weeks in spring 2009). so i got 16.5, 17.5, 18.5 and 20 lbs

per hand by adding wrist or ankle weights. by the time i was

done with those weights, i was done with the program and never

did get the bigger dumbells.

Thanks so much, Donna!!

I don't feel like my 40s are going that fast actually. I'm really enjoying them. When I think about 45 and realize it is definitely not 25 it is a bit intimidating but I mostly choose to ignore that (or at least not spend time on it) and move on to the next good thing instead! :-)

Hi Carolyn!

Thank you so much for your note and also for always being the voice of reason! My foot woke me up once today (at 5 AM, 1/2 hour before my alarm went off so of course that was it for sleep) so yeah, no high impact anytime soon. Probably at least for a month as the doc said I probably needed another month of wearing the orthotics most of the time... I don't even know what I did that triggered it last night but most of the time when it was really bad nothing had to so who knows. I do know, I'm going to be careful for now though (darn).

Thank you too for sharing your experience with CLX and the wrist or ankle weights. I hadn't thought of that. I do have some and can do that instead too. Good to know!!!

It seems that I have to constantly tell myself I'm not 25 anymore! I absolutely

hate mirrors -- who is that old lady anyway?? You may be " as young as you feel, "

but you sure won't look like it!!

Indyrose,

gray hair?? that's what they make dye for!!

This might sound weird, but I love my gray hair! I know that sounds weird but I have black hair and the strands of silver (that's all it is so far, but lots of strands) look good to me. When my kids tease me about them, I tell them "Yeah, and each one has a name. That one is Miriam, that one is , yep, there's another and another Miriam, etc.!" I also look and feel better than I did at 25 and feel much better about myself than I did then. Much more confidence in my body and me in general. I don't love mirrors by any means but I don't hate them the way I used to!

It was awesome, he played "Happy Birthday" to me on the piano and reminded me how much she loved me. :-)

45 is just a number so don't worry about it...I will be 47 this April. When I lose this weight I'm sure I will feel like I'm in my 20's again!Young at heart, Jen

I'm happy to see the numbers add up! A little intimidated at times but happy, nonetheless! :-)
