Guest guest
I have only done this workout once and, according to my log, the last time was June 30, 2008! I did it today, though I probably shouldn't have tried to workout. I only had a few hours of sleep (went to bed close to midnight, couldn't fall asleep for a while and then woke up at 5) and during the floor work and abs I literally considered just stopping and falling asleep on the floor. I kept telling myself to keep going anyway, that it was almost over and I finished it. Crazy. This workout is aimed at beginners and, according to my log, I found it easier than the step workout in 2008 and matched Cathe's weights (her heaviest was 2 5lb. dumbbells in one hand for one-arm rows, the rest of the time she used 5s for everything). I started it, thinking I'd start with her and then, assuming it would be too light, I'd move up. Well, I nearly went down in weights instead but forced myself to keep the 5s. I couldn't understand (until the floor work and I wanted to fall asleep) why it was so hard. I didn't feel THAT tired when I started but I guess I was! When I came upstairs and started thinking about taking a shower, I decided that no, what I really needed was sleep so I crawled in bed and slept over 2 hours. I only woke up because I had to go to the bathroom but got up for good then, showered and feel much better now. How weird though! I've never felt like that before. Thank goodness this is a real day off for me with nowhere I need to be until 3:30! Anyway, I'll need to do it again on a better day to judge it better but I do have to say she was driving me NUTS with her comments about doing this exercise or that so you'd look better in your wedding dress or on the beach for your honeymoon! I'm so glad she just focuses on form and function in her other workouts (at least I've not done any others of hers where she talks more about how you'll look than anything else)! I think I've kept this workout because I like the step workout on it. It is an hour of stepping and most of the intensity and choreography is comfortable enough for me that I get a really good workout from it without feeling too frustrated or challenged (and I don't think she talks endlessly about looking good in that one either).
